Whoever thinks renewables aren't going to be shaping geopolitics of the next few decades needs to back that claim Look at all that power & compute China's getting with solar alone *with such speed* Their solar parks are twinned with coal plants and power industrial clusters

£1660 gas bill is just stupid money. With electricity at today's prices it'd mean an annual energy bill of ~£2570. You'd also need ~240GW in electricity capacity for the H2 supply alone - that's more than triple today's.
Any energy minister who could stomach those kinds of headlines would be put off by this one: heating bills would AT LEAST DOUBLE if we switched to hydrogen heating
An apparently necessary reminder that the Tory government rightly cancelled a bunch of hydrogen heating trials, mostly because the local residents reacted unfavourably to the prospect of this happening in their kitchens.
This can't go on bills. It simply can't. It would be insane to pay for this through bill levies. 😣🤦♂️ ieefa.org/articles/uk-fa…

Want mass heat pump adoption? Fix the running costs. The electricity-to-gas price ratio is key. When policy makes electricity artificially expensive, the cleaner choice isn't the cheaper one. It's time to rebalance energy taxes, as this @theCCCuk chart highlights.
Since 2000 there has been a 65% decline in the amount of coal used by the power sector. Little appetite among utilities to construct new coal plants, given alternatives available that are faster, cheaper, and less polluting. reuters.com/markets/commod…

It's under 7,000 that have been brought across, at a cost of 450mn. I really wish people would do some basic fact checking - especially people who should know better. As someone who deployed to Afghanistan, speaks Pashtu, & worked on the ARAP scheme last year under this gvt -…
I’m just getting my head around the fact that the British Government was trying to sneak in 100,000 Afghans, without knowing their backgrounds, at a minimum cost of of £7billion.
Spaceplanes! 😍

Air con is great for living standards "Energy efficiency" - being efficient in the consumption of energy is downright fabulous 👍 Energy efficiency by suppressing demand is absolutely sh*te 👎👎👎 10000% up for Cool Britainnia 💨🇬🇧
"This is my two-year old's bedroom and it's 30 degrees." Britain's got hotter, but only 5% of British households have AC. It's time to scrap Britain's anti-AC rules and Cool Britannia!
Everyone agrees Britain's energy market is a mess. We had a chance to fix it with zonal pricing. That's now been ruled out. What's the alternative? More subsidies and central planning. My latest for @spectator spectator.co.uk/article/were-a…
