Three owls disguised as a human
Starting a thread of favorite short stories I’ve read this year.
My wife and I started dating knowing there was a good chance she'd soon be hired to work at the South Pole, but decided that day we'd never force a choice between us and our respective dreams. She got the job, we endured 321 days of bitter separation, interspersed with…

Why cry? Don’t cry. Give up

whoever came up with using nigerian songs for anime edits, i hope you find hot puff puff every time you leave the house.

Bright side: didn’t make some mistakes, maybe stayed out of trouble, disciplined. Dark side: risk averse, too considerate to the point of resentment, perfectionist, hates mistakes, self-criticism. Parents often do their best, but I’m more open to a balanced parenting method.
lowkey, strict parenting paid off.
Don't give birth to kids if you expect them to feed you or give you money later That's backward thinking. Be that parent that is sensible enough to take care of themselves financially till their death
If you marry at 30, your first born will be 20 when you’re 50; that’s if you born early. At that age, your first born is just starting life—probably a fresh graduate. When we go start chop fruit of labour? 😭
Beating boys in primary school was so nice. Good times
I’ll never forget 1 day I got bullied by this white boy who pulled out my braids and said my mum was “ as big as a double decker bus”. I cried and my friend told my older brother. My brother said “ why are you crying? Go and beat him up.” I beat that bitch up the next day.
It took a while to admit this, but this is not love in any form. It is selfishness and the inability to commit to working things out as a partner. I made this mistake and man… Anyway, just do better and don’t walk away. Face it with your partner.
My theory is that most men don’t leave because they stopped loving you. They leave because they think,“she doesn’t deserve to go through this with me”. So walking away feels like protecting you from their chaos. It really sounds ridiculous but that’s like some reverse love
Our values have to align. We don’t need to have the same hobbies, same taste in music or the same love languages. But if we don’t see the world through a similar moral lens it’s not going to work. Because at the end
What’s y’all non negotiable in a relationship?
Unpopular communication advice: The best way for women in tech to be taken seriously is to talk more about tech, talk less about being women You don’t see Gwynne Shotwell navel-gazing about being in a male dominated field. When she talks, it’s about space Emilie Choi is one of…
There's a Women In Tech conference in the building, so I'm stealing their pizza. Listened to two talks so far. Discussion of tech so far: none. Lots of sharing personal journeys though. Voices are also being heard.
Punishing a child for being late to school is actually evil. You think 8 year old Emma is responsible for her mom having to drop her younger kids at daycare first? You think 13 year old Anthony intentionally has no one to drive him & intentionally lives where busses don’t go?
So pretty😍 You people will be sick of me when my locs grow

When the depression you've been staying active to avoid finally catches up with you
THE FIRST TO DO IT!! Nigeria's Super Falcons have completed #MissionX , becoming the first African team to win the #WAFCON tournament for a record 10th time! From being 2-0 down at half time, to scoring three goals in the second half, the Super Falcons did the impossible,…
My critique of TKAM is up. 3,000 words. My last contribution in the form of a criticism because I’m not watching any Nollywood series moving forward. I refuse to punish myself any longer. abasimaenyin.substack.com/p/to-kill-a-mo…
After cutting waterleaf for this soup, I’ll write my review. Tufiakwa.
I interviewed a gen z girlie 6 months ago and in the interview she told me that she does not like a challenge, has no interest in career progression, prefers to just do repetitive tasks and will never complain about being bored. I hired her.
