As the only female writer @HeavyHockeyNet, I felt a responsibility to share what I think many women are feeling in the wake of the Hockey Canada SA trial verdict. The verdict landed—but accountability never showed up and I’m not one to stay silent. heavyhockey.com/2025/07/26/the…
“When mental illness is repeatedly framed in the context of suffering, the framing effect could serve to reinforce notions that life with severe mental illness is not worth living,” the report says.

4.9% of the approvals reviewed had errors dealing with the criteria, not to mention all the other mistakes. But we need to tolerate potentially criminal deaths lest we discourage providers from offering death.

This determination, and the conclusion that a woman is not credible because she understated her weight, are so far the most ridiculous things I've heard today. But I haven't seen the reasons yet.
The judge also said that Cal Foote putting his naked genitals in EM's face was not necessarily a sexual act. FFS.
this might me the most asinine thing i’ve ever read she can’t remember her exact weight so she’s not credible? she said a figure of speech, “her truth,” so that means it’s not really what happened?? are we serious here??
Just a cautious warning on Twitter that defending EM needs to be done carefully because the Galloway case teaches us that men may well bring defamation actions against women who try to support a complainant on social media. The idea that we have free expression is not true.

This is our tribute to EM this morning on what must be a very difficult day. It would have been stronger had it evaded the lawyers: archive.ph/bsqVd
Everyone knew what was coming this morning. This quote feels all the more apropos.
"Whatever verdict is rendered, we say this to women: you are entitled to rely on a criminal justice system that is based on respect for both women’s equality and the right to a fair-trial process. And to E.M., we say thank you for your courage." archive.ph/bsqVd#selectio…
Can't quite believe this took us until 2025 to figure out.

No, @CBCNews, he did not kill a baseball bat. He killed a woman, Caroline Bernard, not an inanimate object. Be better. Do better. #CallItFemicide Baseball-bat killer who successfully challenged murder parole provision in B.C. court gets life cbc.ca/news/canada/br…
