Happy #BringYourDogToWorkDay! Meet Alfie, a beautiful bearded collie who lives with Sara, our administrator. His duties include entertaining guests, keeping morale high, and ensuring that staff are taking regular breaks (for both wellbeing and for throwing balls) 🐶

Genetic modification. Organ removals or transplants. Exposure to dangerous/painful chemicals. Forced breeding. Infection with disease. Food, water, or sleep deprivation. Repeated drugging. Electrocution. These are just some of the procedures that laboratory animals can face.

We're currently funding Do Hyeon's work at @aberdeenuni, a project using an animal-free research model to investigate how the brain develops!🧠

Guinea pigs have been used in science experiments since the 17th century - that's why people sometimes call test subjects 'guinea pigs.' We want to see an end to the use of guinea pigs in research. #GuineaPigAppreciationDay

So much money is spent on animal experiments. It's time to invest in humane research. On this #SocialMediaGivingDay, we encourage you to consider supporting our work so we can continue funding innovative research projects! 🙏 humaneresearch.org.uk/donate

Animal testing is often suggested by international guidelines – but this isn’t legally binding. Regulators have recently begun accepting data from non-animal models, including the FDA in the US. Our question: when will the UK follow suit?

If you missed it, we recently committed another million pounds towards animal-free biomedical research. Read about our recent grant awards: humaneresearch.org.uk/new-research-g…

The Trust is currently raising funds so we can continue investing in animal-free medical research. Every purchase from our shop helps! humaneresearch.org.uk/gift-shop/

Lab-grown meat has hit the news recently, bringing attention to the power of modern cell culture. 🧫 Using similar techniques, scientists can grow 'mini-organs' to use for modelling and studying human diseases, cutting out the need for experiments on animals.

Can you believe we're halfway through 2025? Check out this fab pic of a peacock butterfly from the July page of our 2025 calendar, by supporter Wendy-Ann Dunsmuir! Our patron @ChrisGPackham is currently selecting photos for next year's calendar. Stay tuned to see his picks!

Nearly 37,000 beagles have been experimented on in British laboratories since 2014. Most are used for chemical/drug safety testing. This involves force-feeding chemicals through a tube directly into their stomach or injecting them. #StopAnimalTesting

In 2023 alone, almost 9,000 rabbits were experimented on in British laboratories. That equates to a new bunny being subject to experimentation every single hour. We think it's time to let the rabbits leap out of the lab for good! 🐇 #RabbitAwarenessWeek

Last chance to enter our photography comp! 📸 We're looking for snaps of animals or wildlife to feature in our 2026 calendar which our charity sells to raise money for our cause. Submit your images by 23:59 on Sun 29 June 👇 humaneresearch.org.uk/2026-animal-ca…
We are ecstatic to announce that we have just committed another million pounds to life-saving medical research using entirely animal-free methods! 🎉 We may be a small charity - but we're having a big impact. humaneresearch.org.uk/new-research-g… #SmallCharityWeek

Welcome to our A to Z of Humane Research! We’re starting with the heart of our mission: Animals. ❤️ Every year, millions of animals are used in medical research. Through innovative, non-animal methods, we can protect both human health and animal welfare.
