Guys please help! Business Elf is getting WAY too passionate about getting to the next goal over on the channel. Please sub and share so she'll stop shouting at me ;-; Pinned post and top reply.
Good morning and for anyone who needs it, here is a cat, Alfie to be precise.

Jack is an amazing YouTuber to work with and I am so pleased to see his channel grow. Well earned given his contribution to the TTRPG space and his wealth of literary knowledge. If you are not yet following him on YouTube you are missing out, so get over there and subscribe!
Bloomin' heck. 102 People have subscribed to the channel in the last month. I'm growing a lot quicker than expected! If you're one of these 720 people you have my thanks! Onwards to the 1000 sub goal! Subs for Business Elf! youtube.com/@LostLoreSchol… Share the thing!
Outside of the Dragonlance Sage, this may be my favorite piece of D&D art. The artist is the master, Larry Elmore.
Yesterday we had our usual session with @LostLoreScholar and Vicky (the other half of Untold Destiny) joined the game as the third player. Her first time on Roll20 was supervised by the cats! That's good as she is playing a beast druid and they were giving her pointers!

I agree, there are already many mechanisms for surprise from common sense to our Awareness Saving Throw. In Untold Destiny we did not shy away from conditions and have a page full, and they can be used very effectively for crowd control. Only last night, @TheBrassDrake brought…
I never saw a surprise round as ignoring things. It's more like that moment in the movies where the bad guys pop out all of a sudden and get the drop on the good guys, getting in a couple good hits before the good guys can rally and begin to fight back. 5e tried to alleviate it…
It is this that made us rethink the surprise round to a heavy penalty rather than a skipped turn. Being able to do something is important, even if you have a Greater Bane whilst doing it. You are surprised, not standing there ignoring what is going on around you.
Exactly. I watched a "professional" DM who stated during a session that 'skip-a-turn' abilities are great for players but bad design for monsters because then the player is just sitting there because of a bad save. Like, what do you think combat is, bro? By no means do I…
Look at me getting all professional with my content.
Set and ready to head off for Business Unusual filming. Just missing a player... have you seen one? #UntoldDestiny #BusinessUnusal

Sometimes I just want to lock myself away and do nothing but write about Grundlescald and his excellent tower of wonders... that will try to kill you if you so much as DARE think about talking to him. Love fantasy? Follow for more.
A blast from the past but still so relevant today. I must say though, the three games I am running do not make me feel like this, great players and an amazing story in each one! The Dungeon Master's Lament - Saving Throw Official Music Video youtu.be/r4KFI6wHTrM?si… via @YouTube
This is my recollection of 2e back in the day, I cannot recall a table that played 1:1 time and very few did the whole sandbox hex explore thing. The majority were campaign based storytelling from the player’s perspective. Collaborative storytelling with the DM.
I'm an AD&D 2e kid; that's what I grew up on. We never, ever did the open table, emergent gameplay, sandbox stuff the OSR crowd claims was "the" way to play, nor did I ever talk to anyone who did it that way. Our playstyle was basically: - The DM wrote an adventure, we took the…
