I am very sorry to hear this sad news. Mick Lyons was a very influential figure in the Leeds Labour movement and a wonderful servant of the people of East Leeds throughout his life. All my thoughts are with Cllr Debbie Coupar and the whole family.
Really sad news that Alderman Mick Lyons passed away yesterday. Mick was a member of Leeds City Council for nearly 40 years and chaired the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority in the 1990s and 2000s. My thoughts are with Cllr Debbie Coupar and all of Mick’s family.
The news from Maguiresbridge is tragic and deeply distressing. My thoughts are with the victims, their relatives, and the local community in Fermanagh. I would urge the public not to speculate and to allow the PSNI to continue their investigation.”

Deeply concerned by the shameful attack on the Belfast Islamic Centre last night. Hatred of this sort has no place in Northern Ireland. If anyone has any information about this, please contact the PSNI.
