Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, was inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru in February 1954 where he received injury in his finger & thus became the 1st patient to be treated here by Dr R. Kesavan Nair.

Dr. Madan Mohan Lal Atal: An Indian doctor and freedom fighter who was an early antifascist and rejected the Non-Intervention policy in the Spanish Civil War, according to the Spanish Civil War virtual museum. He also led a goodwill medical mission to China in the late 1930s.
Dr. Mehanlal Atal, of U.P & a pass out from Edinburgh, led the medical missions from the Indian Nationalists to Spain & China in the 1930s. He was a freedom fighter, anti-fascist & a poet who lived in China till his death in 1957.

Sir Kailas Chandra Bose became the 1st Indian doctor to be knighted in 1916. A graduate of Calcutta Medical College in 1874, he was made a commissioner of Calcutta Municipality, awarded Kaiser-i-Hind, created CIE & OBE in recognition of his services to the medicine.

Colonel Dr. M. N. Chaudhuri, father of the famous actress Devika Rani, was the 1st Indian to become Surgeon General of Madras Presidency. He also led several Medical Colleges, hospitals & departments.

Dr. Pattabhi Seetharamiah (Sitaramayya) was the 1st doctor from Andhra Pradesh. Passed in 1906 from Madras Medical College, he went on to become one of the biggest leaders of the Freedom Movement along with Nehru & Patel.

Padma Vibhushan Dr. B. K. Goyal, in a photograph published in The Illustrated Weekly of India in September 1973. Dr. B.K. Goyal, Honorary Cardiologist at Bombay Hospital from 1966 to 2018, received Padma Shri (1982), Padma Bhushan (1990), and Padma Vibhushan (2005).
