Less than 3 hours after #Albania requested assistance to fight wildfires, 2 Canadairs from 🇬🇷 & 1 from 🇮🇹 from the #rescEU fleet were deployed this afternoon. The canadairs are offering support to local teams battling the fires in Vlora & Dibër counties. #EUsolidarity

#Preparedness was central in my talks with @PrimeministerGR. We discussed the 🇪🇺 1st Preparedness Strategy & 🇬🇷’s steps to boost its own readiness. I also updated the Minister on our recent strategies & the new legislative proposal to better anticipate & respond to emergencies.

#Greece shows how civil–military cooperation gets results in facing today’s threats. Great discussion with @NikosDendias on deepening our partnership. We also dug into how equality drives progress across all sectors of the society.

Open exchange with members of the Hellenic Parliament & @G_Plakiotakis We discussed #Greece’s daily challenges and how we can address them together. Preparedness is essential. We're redoubling our efforts toward a more coordinated response to risks and threats.

Visited the impressive Elefsina Airbase, home to top-tier rescue teams and gear. Met also with EMAK’s Special Disaster Response teams - always ready to act fast in fires, floods, earthquakes, and all-hazards. #Greece

Thank you for the warm welcome, @gkefalogiannis. At the outset of what appears to be a challenging #wildfire season, my visit comes at a timely moment. #Greece’s support for EU disaster response and hosting of firefighting teams show true solidarity in action.

Israeli airstrikes targeting civilians in #Syria’s Sweida region & in Damascus must stop. I am also deeply concerned by the outbreak of inter-community violence in the country. The EU demands an immediate end to all violence, protection of civilians & full accountability.
