Heidegger's eschatology aligns with the ἐκπύρωσις (ekpýrosis) of the Stoics and Heraclitus. The cosmic fire that destroys and renews appears in his philosophy as the consummation of technology, leading to the destruction of humanity. This is evident in the 'Schwarze Hefte'.

"Good Europeans" must be more than supranational. To do this, they must at times think in a supra-European way and have what Nietzsche called the "supra-European eye", a gaze that sees beyond cultural Europe, beyond the West, to confront Europe’s decline with clear distance.
