Ursula Von Der Leyen must come clean about her proposed cuts to CAP—which provides nearly €2bn annually to support Irish food production. The changes will reduce food output, drive up prices, and must be firmly resisted by all EU member states.

On @morningireland today, a presenter complained it cost €11.16 to buy food for a meal for 4 (€2.79/hd) No mention of how little food prices increased over past 10 yrs (way behind inflation) or that €2.79/hd is hardly a fair return for farmers producing the food in first place
Some simplistic analysis of recent food price increases in media. Yes, food prices have increased in last 12 months by a little more than general inflation (CPI). However, in last 15 yrs, CPI increased at about 2.5 times the rate of food prices and electricity 10 times.
Our longstanding campaign to increase the CAP budget has shifted to opposing any European Commission plans to create a single fund. I am representing Irish farmers in Brussels, where I am meeting with Irish MEPs and Commissioners. #UnitedWeStand
