Yall are telling me you never brought in hand sanitizer or boxes of tissues for the whole classroom to use?

Working in Baltimore schools for the last few years, I’ve noticed w gen z and low SES groups, there are communal supplies to help parents that can’t afford them and to limit distractions at desks. Growing up, we had this some years but it’s more popular after 2010.

questions for Americans: in elementary school, did the supplies (pencils, erasers, markers, glue sticks, etc) your parents bought at the beginning of the year stay in your personal space or did it go to a communal bin that everyone used when you did in class projects?
