Sad news Ray French MBE, the former St Helens, Widnes and Great Britain international & for many years the voice of rugby league on the BBC passed away earlier today. Ray, who has been suffering from dementia in recent years, was 85. Thoughts are with Ray’s family 💔
2024/25 school year ✅ Since September we have worked with over 4,000 pupils in 72 schools, running six-week writing programmes, projects with Rounders England and the World Boxing Championships and inviting sporting icons into classrooms. Much more to come in 25/26 ✍️📰

Last week marked the end of our project with the World Boxing Championships ahead of their event in Liverpool in Sept. Over two months, 16 primary schools, 40 classes and 1,200 children took part, learning about famous Liverpool boxers and creating their own newspaper articles

It was absolutely brilliant to be joined in class by @TashaJonas at Our Lady’s Bishop Eton Primary yesterday, sharing the experiences of her boxing career including two world titles, as pupils wrote newspaper articles on the strong links between the sport and Liverpool 🥊✍️📰

Today is the end of a term that has seen Literacy Kicks run sports journalism sessions at 28 schools for over 1,500 pupils - delivering one-off workshops, six-week programmes and donating reading books. We can’t wait to start it all again after Easter ✍️📰
