This Asahi article is blunt about what’s happening in the LDP: PM Ishiba is barricaded in the Kantei, insisting the party’s decline isn’t solely his fault and refusing to leave it in the hands of Abe-era corrupt people. Damn. asahi.com/sp/articles/AS…
Bunshun Online reports that Sanseitō's Saya only goes by her first name for a reason: She's married to a pianist and wanted to hide her family's existence. The news is ironic, given that the hard-right Sanseitō opposes married women having separate last names.
Aso: “The LDP cannot win elections if Ishiba remains as PM.” The LDP when Aso was PM ⬇️

🚨 🚨 According to Weekly Bunshun, Aso will support Shun'ichi Suzuki (鈴木俊一) in the next LDP leadership race. This is in order to nominate Yūichirō TAMAKI of the DPFP as PM in the Diet’s PM election. According to this plan, Suzuki will become leader of the LDP, but not PM.

Some outlets/ commentators are arguing Tamaki could become PM after the next general election if things get even worse for the LDP.
Ishin’s Maehara: “No coalition with the Ishiba administration. After that, we’ll judge policies on a case-by-case basis.” asahi.com/articles/AST7R…
An LDP civil war is entirely possible if not probable at this point.
Takaichi and Aso are trying to coup Ishiba.
Sanae Takaichi met with close LDP allies earlier today, including former PM Taro Aso. She agreed to back an ongoing petition launched by Abe faction members calling for a General Assembly of LDP Diet members, following Ishiba’s refusal to step down.
Shimba, secretary general of DPFP, received an oracle: «I was taking care of Kevin (my pet goat) and a bee stung me. My hand swelled up, so I thought our seats in parliament would swell up too... and sure enough, they did. Hand x4 in size, our seats were x4 too»

Ishiba is the best of the worst. (Meaning he is the best politician inside of the awful LDP).
Holy shit. PM Ishiba says now that he is going nowhere!
100% sure this came from an ally of Aso/ Takaichi. If Ishiba can make it the next 1-2 months, he might be able to last until the end of his term assuming the opposition doesn’t push for an early general election.
Did Mainichi just get bad info or did a high level LDP source leak it to arm twist Ishiba lol
NHK: Following Ishiba’s meeting with former PMs Aso, Suga and Kishida, he told the press that any and all media reports of his resignation are false and showed his resolve to stay on so as not to create a political vacuum in these trying times.
NHK:「石破総理大臣は、参議院選挙の結果を受けたみずからの進退をめぐり、石破総理大臣は辞任報道は事実ではないと否定した上で、政策課題への対応を急ぐため、政治空白を作ることはできないとして、続投する意向を重ねて示しました」 www3.nhk.or.jp/news/html/2025…
Ishiba is staying on! No leadership election for now!
I apologize if the headline was misleading; the post was based on the information available at the time. Mainichi reported that Ishiba was set to resign, and major domestic and international outlets began running headlines about his resignation. But just hours later, Ishiba…
The far-right of the LDP has suffered losses in both the 2024 & 2025 elections. This, + the opposition of Kishida, Suga, & Ishiba, will make it difficult for Takaichi to be elected leader. That said, Sanseito may have scared LDP MPs & could push the party further to the right
Ishiba entered with high hopes and left a massive disappointment.
