The latest figures show that IPP prisoners who are recalled serve an average of 25 months before re-release, even if they are not convicted of a further offence.
The overall IPP population is decreasing by less than 10% a year – despite some prisoners having served up to 22 times longer than their original sentence. This excludes a further 233 who are being held in secure hospitals after their mental health has deteriorated in prison.
It’s the only way So many are suffering mentally with the cruelty of been left to long without help
