Many stalking survivors feel that they are never safe and cannot live their normal lives.

Sometimes framed as "the dark side of fame," stalking is actually a prevalent victimization that impacts millions of people each year. No one deserves to be stalked, no matter how publicly or privately they live their lives.

Stalking is a prevalent victimization that impacts every community in the United States.

Stalking is terrifying. Many survivors become hypervigilant, constantly fearful about when the stalker will return.

Most stalking victims take steps to protect themselves. Every stalking case is different, and strategies that enhance safety for one victim might be dangerous for another. Victim advocates can help stalking victims make detailed and individualized safety plans.

In addition to being terrified, many stalking victims feel isolated and that no one understands what they are going through.

Stalking is criminal, traumatic, and DANGEROUS! Many offenders are violent.

Non-consensual image distribution is a crime in its own right -- and it's one that stalkers often commit as part of their longer course of conduct. These resources can help victims and survivors remove photos and videos.

A stalking case can range from one afternoon to an entire lifetime. Stalkers are likely to change their strategies over time, making it critical to regularly update safety plans and revisit risk assessments.

While there are tech-savvy stalkers who use sophisticated methods, most use (and misuse) simple tools and applications to cause harm. The good news is that simple methods can also be used to stop the behaviors and/or hold the stalkers accountable! Request training for more info.

For many stalking survivors, nowhere feels safe -- even home.

Stalking may be a tactic of elder abuse. This #WEAAD2025, we encourage you to learn more about the intersections of stalking and abuse in later life.




Stalkers often use simple methods to track, monitor, contact, sabotage, and otherwise scare their victims. Help survivors map out every device the offender may have (or previously had) access to.

Stalkers are often determined offenders. Many involve third parties to watch, contact, threaten, and otherwise scare their victims.
