It's Follow-Friday! Connect with us and spread the word. We are a global collective of Black immunologists and allies. We are organizing and planning #BlackInImmunoWeek(Nov 22-28). We are also developing #BlackInImmunoHub, a network to connect/diversify #Immunology research field
Excited to share our new story explaining how macrophages use nitric oxide derivatives to shut down Toxoplasma evasion of cell-autonomous immunity. Congrats to @zhaoxyu6 and the team! link.springer.com/10.1038/s41467…
JOB POST: Assistant Professor of Microbial Pathogenesis available in our Microbiology, Immunology, and Cancer Biology department at the University of Virginia @UVA @UVA_MIC. Apply here: apply.interfolio.com/130811 Please RT.
Excited to share our new review discussing how host-pathogen interactions can be explored with spatial proteomics and transcriptomic tools. There should be something for virologists, bacteriologists & parasitologists in here! @samy_lempke journals.asm.org/doi/full/10.11…
UVA is in the buildinggggg @ABRCMS Please stop by our booth #527 to learn about our MD/PhD program, Biomedical Sciences, PhD program and Summer Research Opportunities!!! Fee waivers available!
1. We @ImmunologyTang @ShanLuLiu1 are very happy to see our work finally published. We found that current mRNA vaccines induced relatively suboptimal respiratory mucosal immunity despite strong circulating humoral and cellular immunity being induced.
A study finds a lack of neutralizing antibodies, #Bcells, and #Tcells against #SARSCoV2 variants of concern, such as BA1.1, in vaccinated people’s lungs, showing intranasal boosters in mice induce lung immunity. @Jie_Immunology @ImmunologyTang @ShanLuLiu1 fcld.ly/51xrpu4
I aim to maximize the awareness of scientific educational opportunities for students of historically marginalized backgrounds in science. The Gilliam community and @ewald_lab will promote my professional development in being an effective communicator! #GilliamFellows @HHMINEWS
Congratulations to my wonderful @UVABIMS student @nadi_immunology and the new class @HHMINEWS #GilliamFellows! Honored and excited to bring insights from this creative community of scientists and DEI advocates back to @UVASOM & @DiversityUVASOM

Disability Awareness Week begins today! Join @uvastudco for a week of events highlighting disability at UVA and beyond. Join the first event, allyship training, today at 5 PM in the MSC!
2 Immunology Faculty positions are now open in the Carter Immunology Center at the University of Virginia: 1 Assistant and 1 Associate/Full Professor. Come join a terrific & collaborative scientific community nestled in the Shenandoah. DM with questions. Please retweet!

🔥🔥New preprint from our lab.🔥🔥 We designed a new in vitro model to study spontaneous differentiation of Toxoplasma gondii in primary brain cells. A great collaboration with @jcl_lambert that was funded by a grant from @PasteurLille (CPER CRTL). 1/4 biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
A heartbreaking loss. I was so fortunate to have benefited Nilabh’s thoughtful scientific advice and generous support at each stage of my career- as grad student down the hall and as a Toxo immunologist starting a lab- he is missed.
So sad we have lost legendary immunologist Nilabh Shastri. He was my next door neighbor and mentor. Can’t think of a more brilliant, kind, generous human being. It was such a privilege to be his friend and colleague at Hopkins for the much too short amount of time he was here.
Looking for an experienced research technician to join my research group here at the University of Pittsburgh. Apply here! cfopitt.taleo.net/careersection/…
Great opportunity to set up your own lab!

The Mercer lab @IMIBirmingham is looking for a postdoc to image and investigate poxvirus infection using complex tissue culture systems (micropatterning and 3D). DM for inquires. Please RT far and wide!! bham.taleo.net/careersection/…
This is a great department that first turned me on to immunology research as an undergrad. Apply!
