I’ll miss @UMneurosurgery! What an incredible 8 years! I learned so much and am super excited to be able to take my knowledge, skills and experience with me to Pittsburgh as I join the AHN neurosurgery department with my amazing wife and MIS spine surgeon @KatBerryMD.
Thank you @ahnneuroscience and @PittNeurosurg for putting together a great program of talks and camaraderie at the Neurosurgical Society of Pittsburgh #NSP #neurosurgery #cerebrovascular
We are well underway with our 3rd Annual Neurosurgical Society of Pittsburgh (NSP) meeting. Bringing together our neurosurgeons, trainees, and APP in the Pittsburgh region has been a nice initiative we hold annually with @ahnneuroscience and @PittNeurosurg
Surgical outcomes are, in part, linked to institutional volume. With acoustic neuromas, patients benefit from treatment at centers of excellence with experts in their field. Thank you again @iramsay34 for all your incredible work! #skullbase #cerebrovascular #acousticneuroma #IAC

Super proud of the brain tumor team @UMneurosurgery for another excellent publication! Further proof that surgical volume leads to better outcomes! Thanks again @iramsay34 and @TiffanyEatz for all the hard work! Future superstars! #neurosurgery #skullbase #acousticneuroma
Higher surgical volumes are associated with improved perioperative outcomes for vestibular schwannomas— Happy to help lead with the stellar ⭐️ @iramsay34 under the 🧠 masters @evanluthermd @Ricardokomotar @michaelivanmd pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39921967/
So proud of @UMneurosurgery! Couldn’t have had better training and this increase in complement is a testament to the hard work and effort of the residents and faculty there! @Ricardokomotar @AllanLeviMD
📢 Big News! University of Miami Miller School of Medicine's Neurosurgical Training Program is leveling up! 🚀 We’re thrilled to announce we’re increasing to 4 residents per year, joining the elite 9 programs in the U.S. with this capacity. 🧠✨ #ItsOfficial #ResidencyProgram
Congenital brain AV shunts can cause problems for the infant during and after pregnancy. Intrauterine embolization can reverse many of the issues resulting in normal child development. Grateful for the progress in our field! #veinofgalen #avm #neuro #endovascular #fetalsurgery

Thanks @JNeurooncol for highlighting our work! We hope this technology will give insight into enhancing surgical treatments of malignant gliomas. @SylvesterCancer @michaelivanmd @um_svilab
Rivera et al @umiamimedicine identified early tumor progression in glioma patients using machine learning based whole brain MRS. providing a promising tool for early treatment decisions. #JNO Read more: link.springer.com/article/10.100…
Giving a big shout-out to Dr. Alex Whiting and his team for their amazing work in the field of epilepsy. The continuity of their efforts is serving as a beacon of hope for many. Keep up the excellent work. #epilepsyawareness #healthcareheroes
@aviagajjar continues to be on a tear Using a different approach, but similar findings to @Starkeneurosurg and @evanluthermd in @JNIS_BMJ on the increased ruptures of AVMs in the post-ARUBA era.
Dr. Avi Gajjar presents on 5 year trends in AVM treatment, showing increased rupture presentations and mortality. #SNIS2024 @SNISInfo @esmintsociety cvsection @fcalbuquerque51 @cruzcerebri @mariapanrad @DanniDiestro @MattAmansMD @ducruetaf @MattFusco_MD @DrAltschul
UM Neurosurgery Grad Night! Congratulations Class of 2024!!! 💪🎈🎁🎂
US HCPs: #BMX96 supporting #MIDWAY 43 alongside Headway 17 to manage complex pericallosal aneurysm. #MIDWAY 43 tracked to distal ICA to support coil deployment in A2. Courtesy of @Starkeneurosurg & @EvanLutherMD! Rx only. Risk: peninc.info/risk Clinical results may vary
4 strokes in 4 days. Basilar occlusion, ICAD, ICAt, + tandem occlusion. Lucky to train @StrokeMiami @UMneurosurgery @JacksonHealth Especially thankful to my junior fellow Luis Guada MD. All gas, no brakes ⛽️ Been an exceptional year. #stroke #endovascular #neurosurgery #youngNIR

‚The cumulative re-rupture risk in the first 1, 3, 5, and 10 years following the initial rupture were 10%, 25%, 37.5%, and 50%, respectively.‘ corrects myth that re-rupture of AVM is unlikely - esp relevant when pts sent to #radiosurgery. saying bc I saw 2 of this type today
Hot of the press! The annual re-rupture risk in ruptured AVMs was 7.6%; cumulative re-rupture risk -> 1, 3, 5, and 10 years post-rupture were 10%, 25%, 37.5%, and 50%, respectively. bit.ly/3tUJ0mq @DrAltschul @ducruetaf @MattAmansMD @MattFusco_MD @DanniDiestro
Great work by @michaelsilva & rest of the team showing that a radial or ulnar approach is possible in majority of patients with arterial occlusion without complications. Long sheath into the brachial artery aids this approach.
LITT induces a robust immune response for GBM. Here we show ~10 year survival for IDHwt GBM after LITT for nGBM. Congrats @jaychandar5 @um_svilab for work demonstrating the local changes in the GBM TME w/ LITT and RT with inc. PD-L1 and CD8 infiltration in J. of Immunotherapy.
Great to see the students and residents from #TeamMiami representing this year the CNS! Congrats on the talk by @alevy96 @jay.chandar and posters by @shovanbhatia @ldaggubati @drmartinmerenzon @neuro.morell @camrivera8 @natecleri @evanluthermd @anil_mahavadi and more! Great…
