Here’s the list I created of Washington Post buyout takers this cycle .. continuing to edit as the July 31 deadline approaches ~ it’s up to 35 including the heart & soul of the opinion page.. Meg Greenfield & Fred Hiatt would be crushed at what Will Lewis has done to their paper

Some professional news: After 11 years of columnizing at WaPo, I'm taking the buyout. This is my last column. It is my advice to any other lucky pundits who land a perch like this—11 principles I've aspired to, even if I haven't always achieved them: wapo.st/3TU2fGw
It’s my turn to announce my upcoming Washington Post departure. I’ve loved (almost) every minute of it and will remain on social media (say hi now and then, will ya) as I watch sports and go scorched earth on my memoir.
Weird, considering NBC had a sports cable network but shut it down a few years ago...My guess is NBC realized they spent way too much money on the NBA and is desperately searching for ways to make more money for broadcasting NBA games.
NBCUniversal is discussing launching a sports cable network, per @JBFlint :: wsj.com/business/media….
Congrats to Dan on the new gig. Can't wait for his "Why I'm joining the Athletic" piece (do they still do that?) But a little confused about how he'll oversee the Athletic's Commanders coverage when the Athletic just let go their (really good) Commanders beat writer...
Glass Break: Dan Steinberg (@dcsportsbog) announced y-day he was leaving WaPo after 25 years. Alison Cotsonika, The Athletic's senior managing editor, NFL, sent this letter to staff welcoming him as new NFL managing editor. Subscribe to @fos TunedIn: frontofficesports.com/newsletters/tu…

And the Post continues to be hollowed out by buyout departures....And add Catherine Rampell to the list...
Here is my running tally of Washington Post 2025 round of buyouts ~ I’ve been adding in career span; it’s quite generous for some; old timers w 25 years of service get 18 months of pay & SRA credit of 12 months for COBRA ~ 30 names & counting, pushed out by Publisher Will Lewis
Another Wash Post departure—from Playbook PM: “Isabelle Khurshudyan is now a senior enterprise reporter/writer at CNN. She previously was Ukraine bureau chief at The Washington Post.” Congrats to @ikhurshudyan on the new gig!
Oh and nearly lost within the frenzy of buyouts and resignations is another poaching of Washington Post talent by the New York Times - Ann Marimow joining NYT DC bureau to cover Supreme Court. Ann starts in August, joined the Post in 2005! nytco.com/press/ann-mari…
As if all the depressing WP buyout news wasn't enough, Washington Post obituaries editor Adam Bernstein, who gave 26 years and 6 months to the paper, has been hired away by the New York Times & editor Bill McDonald, it was announced today nytco.com/press/new-depu…
This appears to be written in a foreign language…
New: WP Ventures, the “third newsroom,” is changing — some of it will now report to biz side leader Suzi Watford, while the editorially related stuff will stay in the newsroom. “The next iteration of WP Ventures will be developed apart from The Post newsroom.”
It was @matt_terl who said it best about @dcsportsbog: "For a while, it felt like the sportswriting equivalent of Brian Eno’s observation about the Velvet Underground’s first record: Not everyone read the Bog, but everyone who did started a blog." washingtoncitypaper.com/article/194913…
The end of an era. Makes me sad. Good luck to the most influential and important DC sportswriter of the last 25 years.
Well. Tomorrow is my last day at The Washington Post. It’s been a total thrill.
So no one is going to leak the date and opponent for the Caps opener prior to tomorrow's schedule release?
Great news. The quintessential Monk game, I think, was the last game of the 84 season in the snow at RFK to win the division against the Cardinals.
One number. Forever legendary. Art Monk's number 81 will officially be retired this season
