I was recently asked some questions about Hex packages, e.g. how many ever used the retired feature. Pretty easy to do with hex_core, 5.37% packages have at least 1 retired version! #MyElixirStatus
We can't wait for @wojtekmach to deliver his insightful talk 'Hex Then & Now' at Code BEAM Europe where he'll be highlighting major milestones in Hex’s development and ecosystem to discover what we can learn from them.💡 Buy a ticket 🎟 codebeameurope.com/#register #CodeBEAMEurope
Our preprint on proving type safety for Elixir's gradual type system. Feedback welcome! arxiv.org/abs/2408.14345
I just saw @josevalim's post about the math behind the Elixir programming language's new gradual type system checking out. This post was tremendously exciting for me. Allow me to explain with this too-long post.
Last years Empex was so much fun, I knew we'd have to do it again. Now that Empex is retired, I've teamed up with @sm_debenedetto and the folks at @CodeSyncGlobal to bring you Code BEAM Lite NYC! 🗽 Website: codebeamnyc.com DMs open for questions!
🗽 Code BEAM Lite is coming to New York City! 🗽 We’re thrilled to announce Code BEAM Lite New York City, a one-day event celebrating all things BEAM on the 15th November 2024! 🙌 We can't wait to see you there! ➡️ codebeamnyc.com #CodeBEAMLiteNYC
Dashbit has sponsored Sonic PI in the past and I am also personally sponsoring Sam on GitHub: github.com/sponsors/samaa… - we are always glad to support exciting projects running on the BEAM. Ask your employer and consider doing it yourself if you can afford. 🚀
I’m in the unfortunate position that my income from Patreon has halved since this time last year. I think this has two root causes: 1. People’s finances are being stretched. 2. I’ve had low activity whilst my family has lived through a traumatic 1.5 year home renovation.
I can’t believe the GOP is running an old guy for president. Yikes.
This strange tweet got >25k retweets. The author sounds confident, and he uses lots of hex and jargon. There are red flags though... like what's up with the DEI stuff, and who says "stack trace dump"? Let's take a closer look... 🧵1/n
Yo, so my network programming in @elixirlang book thing is coming along. We're in tech review and @savhappy pointed out the book is techinally published 🤓
I see some apps try to hide Ecto queries behind an abstraction. I personally think Ecto is the perfect abstraction by itself. You can write every query to pull out exactly the data you need, exactly how you need it, and in the most efficient way possible. Here I'm joining to a…
Today I passed my PPL checkride and will have my pilot certificate in a few days!

We use a lot of @fastly features to make Hex fast. Shielding for more cache hits and less AWS costs, surrogate keys for fine grained cache purging. We are moving to their Compute platform to do auth at the edge and package allow/block lists for organizations.
Fastly has supported Hex with free services for almost 10 years and is what makes mix deps.get so fast for Hex packages. Now Fastly is making their platform available to all developers for free. Check out: fastly.com/pricing

Well, the new @elixirlang 1.17 caught a bug in a well-tested module in our app! (DecodeException wasn't alias'd) This particular function head was missing a test. +1 for types
There is a lot of work ahead, but I'm really happy for this release which contains the first steps to a full type system for Elixir. Hope there will be feedback. :-)
Woot! Elixir v1.17 is out, bringing you the first warnings and type checking based on our on-going work to perform type inference from patterns (and soon guards). A lot more to come, hopefully: elixir-lang.org/blog/2024/06/1…

I'm on the job market. If you know of any exciting companies using Elixir that are hiring and do remote work let me know.
