Symmetry is the idea of nothing happening. Something only happens when symmetry is broken.
Einstein said: "God does not play dice with the universe", When Bohr said: "Stop telling God what to do", Einstein said, "There must be a deeper law." I say, "Yes — and it’s symmetry-breaking that gives rise to that law and the information we see."
In philosophy, a perfectly symmetric system — one of pure indifference or randomness — carries no meaning. Meaning arises only when constraints are imposed, symmetries are broken, and distinctions appear. This act of differentiation is what makes interpretation possible.
