Of course I was going to finish the official unofficial Tesla summer anthem before Robotaxi launch. I present to you the complete “T.S.L.A.” song and music video. Favorite clips in the 🧵 below. In 10 years, this will either be the most iconic Tesla song of all time or no one…
So it looks like the safety rider only has ability to halt the robotaxi and not actually control it beyond that. There are two buttons on the screen “pull over” and “stop in lane” and perhaps an emergency brake button on the door (unconfirmed still). This is technically…
Issues that I’ve encountered thus far with RoboTaxi: - Some pick ups are not where the pin is - requires ~15-30 seconds of walking to reach the car. - Car attempted to make a left turn into a gated community. Safety rider pressed button for car to pull over and pressed support.…
First time I’ve seen an AV get pulled over by police. Looks like this Waymo is going to traffic school for an illegal left turn. I do like how it elegantly pulled over when the police lights went on though. Good safety feature for FSD to learn.
Sometimes you get to one of these flashing red light intersections and no one knows what the fvck they are doing. FSD patiently waits its turn after all the fumbling and then proceeds at the right time. Added repeater camera views just to see what the adjacent cars are doing.
FSD can reverse out of a “standoff” in current version just like the Robotaxi did here in Omar’s video. Just needs to build some more confidence. We tested this situation earlier this year. x.com/edgecase411/st…
Tesla Robotaxi mexican standoff
Can @robotaxi handle a difficult edge case with a long line of bicyclists with police escorts & on busy Austin roads, while trying to negotiate a right turn into a backed up lane? Check this out! Pretty impressive, smooth & comfortable ride! Well done!
It feels a little extra satisfying and special watching this and thinking all of the Beta testers out there played a small but important role in training the AI to get to this significant milestone. Congratulations to the hard working teams at Tesla and all of us. ❤️ 🫡
World's first autonomous delivery of a car! This Tesla drove itself from Gigafactory Texas to its new owner's home ~30min away — crossing parking lots, highways & the city to reach its new owner
Glad to see Robotaxi avoiding Chuck Cook unprotected left turns, especially with cars coming around a blind curve. Great way to reduce the risk of incidents.
Interesting. My Robotaxi doesn’t want to make a left here, so it’s making a right turn and a U-turn.
Three days with Tesla Robotaxi. 62 total rides. Here’s what actually happened when I put the autonomous future to the test.
Safety monitor in this Robotaxi looks to be very cautious here on this unprotected left turn with his thumb ready by the “stop” button. First time seeing a safety rider be so locked in and ready to intervene. If you look closely at the screen visualization the driver/passenger…
Tesla Robotaxi takes me to get some BBQ
Tesla has done a great job on this small-scale robotaxi rollout in Austin. Skeptics saying Tesla couldn't launch a robotaxi based on FSD Community Tracker like to point to Waymo, but as I've pointed out many times, you can't compare the tracker data to CA DMV or NHTSA data…
People don’t understand how to interpret data. First off, this data doesn’t even include the Robotaxi software at all. It measures their ADAS system. Secondly, you can’t compare the performance of their ADAS system which works anymore to one city where Waymo runs. Try both.…
Here is another instance where the safety rider very likely saved the robotaxi hitting a parked car while trying to squeeze through a tight spot. You can tell because the hazard lights went on as soon as the car stopped. He either hit the “stop in lane” button on the screen or…
Super tight squeeze for robotaxi in one of my last drives 🫢 The owner of the parked car asked if it was my car and I told him it was a robotaxi. The robotaxi backed up and then the driver of the parked car left. It looked like the tire touched the parked car. The safety driver…
First intervention I’ve seen with Robotaxi. (Deleted the original post since I had accidentally screen captured at 2x speed) Safety monitor hits the “stop in lane” button as a UPS truck tries to back into a spot where the Robotaxi was trying to go. Watching it at 1x speed again…
Day 3. Finished 5 Tesla Robotaxi rides, 4 Waymo rides, and 1 Uber ride. (See 39-minute edited video below.) Uber is in a tough situation. Classic innovators dilemma. Autonomous ride-hailing clearly is the future, but if Uber invites Waymo then that's working against their…
