Unlike Viz, 3 native Japanese speakers including me translated the term as swordsmanship. If Rocks’ Advanced CoC attack is categorized as swordsmanship, Divine Departure should also fall within the same category. This confirms Shanks is a swordsman—and thus inferior to Mihawk.😭

I'd translate it as *swordsmanship*. In Japanese version, Oda used the same term 剣技(swordsmanship) to refer to Mihawk and Rocks. Rocks used Advanced CoC in the panel, so it's safe to assume Shanks' Divine Departure also belongs to swordsmanship.😍

I always wondered how Zoro was able to do that. It seems like it's the same type of swordsmanship as Xebec's but Zoro used it in the air to blow himseld away... They look and sound identical:
