Magna was a Roman Fort on the Stanegate and pre-dates the building of Hadrian’s Wall in AD122. The site guards the road junction between two major Roman roads, the Maiden Way and the Stanegate. Now it is under the care and study of the Vindolanda Trust #RomanFortThursday
Lilia pits at Rough Castle Roman Fort on the Antonine Wall, near Bonnybridge in central Scotland. The pits were a defensive measure (each pit contained a sharpened stake) that would have helped defend the northern approach to the fort. 📸 My own. #RomanFortThursday

“Invention, it must be humbly admitted, does not consist in creating out of void, but out of chaos; the materials must, in the first place, be afforded: it can give form to dark, shapeless substances, but cannot bring into being the substance itself.” —Shelley #BookologyThursday
When Johannes Gutenberg unveiled his printing press in the 15th century, he unknowingly sparked the Information Age. His movable type machine helped democratize knowledge and paved the way for libraries, literacy, and revolutions. #BookologyThursday
