I'm building Vibescape: an immersive meditation app for Vision Pro. This is the teaser. ✨ Available this Friday, Feb 2nd only on #AppleVisionPro
It's funny because I've been thinking a lot this week about how Starlink has really made my work here possible – from a farm in Oregon. The outage today was notable in the sense that the service has been remarkably stable for a LONG time now. Back online here 🛰️

Same in Oregon :( I've been thinking about how transformative StarLink is - all the more stark when it goes out.
Starlink is down worldwide... Sucks to live in the moutain off-grid... @Starlink do something 🥲
I got to study under Judy Pfaff in college, who was a pioneer of installation art as a medium (and a generally rad person). To this day I think of something she said which is that great ideas typically come to you when you're working. So get in the studio and just get going.

From the examples I've seen, Generative AI really struggles with animating pixel art. It doesn't follow the internal logic of real pixel art, and often just looks like paper-cutouts of pixel art elements animated in Adobe Flash.
Software refactoring reminds me of home renovation sometimes. You get a new induction range and realize that the outlet needs to be upgraded to 240V. And then you realize that the panel doesn't have an extra slot... It's often the small new feature that gets you to rethink.
That feeling when you get the solution that the state-of-the-art reasoning models missed. Aww yea, still got it.
Something fun when working on advanced problems – or really any problem – is that moment where you can actually visualize the entire thing and see exactly where the issues arise. Well, not sure how it is for people with aphantasia but at least for my visual brain...
Some days are harder than others, but if you're willing to learn from them you'll grow. (This is a tweet about Byte alignment in compute buffers)

Been living on MacOS 26 beta since day 0 and, overall I'm really liking it. Feels clean and still feels very Macintosh. My main wish is for fewer 'containers' around things, but I generally real like it.

Almost all of the skills that have led to success in my career were things people told me I was wasting my time on when I got into them.
As someone who's been making apps for a very long time I am not threatened by Vibe Coding because, I think the whole point of personal computers from the beginning was to empower users. If a non-coder can make an app that solves a problem in their life, I think that's great.
It's so satisfying to successfully refactor an app. A multi-day refactor can be a little tense as you hope that it all comes back together; but when it does, and you have a leaner, cleaner, meaner application it's just so satisfying.
Reposted because I forgot to add captions. Details in the video but so many cool improvements this week; really excited about this app! (And fear not – more to come on my other apps as well!)
My NEW app Metaballs: Spatial – coming this fall to visionOS 26 – got some MASSIVE updates this week🤯 Don't forget to follow for more updates!
AI is very analogous to the microprocessor age. Growing up in the 80s and 90s you really *felt* the boom of being able to put chips in everything from toys to appliances. Now we're putting intelligence into everything. Wild times.
Working on something NEW for Apple Vision Pro and it might be the coolest thing I've ever made. Follow and be among the first to get a look!
