🧠New Viewpoint: Thinking as Analogy-Making: Toward a Neural Process Account of General Intelligence🔗jneurosci.org/content/45/18/… I outline that neural structure mapping - abstracting and reasoning based on relational knowledge - may play a key role in general intelligence
Our new paper is out @CellReports! Rebekka Tenderra @r_tenderra et al show that intelligence is linked to interindividual differences in relational integration in hippocampal cognitive maps, supporting an information processing based view on intelligence: cell.com/cell-reports/f…
🚨Preprint Alert: Who Does What in Deep Learning? Multidimensional Contribution of Neural Units using Game Theory: arxiv.org/abs/2506.19732 The results of my MSc thesis is finally out with @Kaysonfakhar, Fatemeh Hadaeghi, @patrickmineault, @KordingLab, and @CCHilgetag
New preprint by Volker Reisner (reisnerv.bsky.social). Learned movement patterns affect our sense of traveled distance + neurocomputational model. Collab with Doellerlab, modeling by Viktor Studenyak (@VStudenyak) via the Neural Computation Group. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
Have a look at our paper on the relational representation of action plans in the hippocampal system, out now in @NatureComms. doi.org/10.1038/s41467…
Our work together with @doellerlab, @PatrickHaggard, @vigano_s, @reznikdan in @NatureComms!

Dear colleagues, please circulate, I am looking to fill a PhD position in computational neuroscience - fully funded (3 years). Part of an international collab. (4 labs) to test and develop further computational models of episodic and spatial memory cbs.mpg.de/psychology/neu…
New preprint by @xuyangwen1 et al. Among other things, we provide evidence that mental time traveling relies on complementary allocentric and egocentric representations of time, in the hippocampus and parietal cortex, respectively. Check it out! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
We’re beyond delighted to announce the launch of a new biweekly lecture series: Foundations of Cognitive Science, led by Dr. Fiora Salis, a philosopher based at the University of York (UK) and guest scientist in our department. 📅 6 Nov 13:30 CET 📍MPI CBS, Leipzig

Now online in @CurrentBiology ! 📢💥 Using 7T precision fMRI, we discovered new organizational principles of human entorhinal cortex and of human hippocampal-entorhinal system. doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.… With @doellerlab, Menno Witter, @DanielMargulies, @Neuro_Conn. 🧵👇 1/5
Can human adapt their path integration system for navigating on a sphere (non-Euclidean geometry)? We found a strong Euclidean bias. Multiple local planar maps can be used to solve a complex task. doi.org/10.1177/095679…
Pleased to share our paper "Category boundaries modulate memory in a place-cell-like manner" out in @CurrentBiology! We find that category boundaries affect memory like spatial boundaries & explain this by a BVC model: doi.org/10.1016/j.cub.…
Suuuuper excited to share that I received the Minerva Postdoctoral Fellowship, and will be starting next April at the @doellerlab in Germany. ✨✨Research will focus on self-controlled event-segmentation during spontaneous navigation.✨
Final PhD paper is out! Thanks to @doellerlab @T_N_Schroeder @reznikdan @KISNeuro, Menno Witter & Asgeir Kobro-Flatmoen 🎉 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/hi…
Absolutely stunning. The spectacular alignment with @mona_garvert @AnnaSchapiro fMRI data. The striking similarity of the 30ms replay with @YunzheNeuro MEG graph replay sequences, and the beauty of seeing all this at cellular resolution for the first time.
Temporal structure of experience etched on firing of human hippocampal-entorhinal neurons to serve memory & prediction. See our study @Nature at @UCLANsgy, great work by lead author @PTacikowski with @GuldamlaKalendr & @DavideCili support @NIH_NINDS. nature.com/articles/s4158…
