I am sad to share that Bob Hanzlik has died this morning. I will miss him. For me, Bob was a model of a fearless and courageous scientist/person. Bob had taught me how to write, which means to be methodical and clear. A photo is from our Utah camping trip in '21.

After 20 years, I am behind the lectern at my undergraduate institution, Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics in Niš, Serbia. I had fun telling my teachers and the new generation of chemists some of the things my team and I learned in the meantime.

Quick shout out to Asst Prof of Med Chem Zarko Boskovic. He mentors a dual major (chem & biochem) undergraduate student, Ian Shire from Lawrence, who has been selected for a prestigious Courtwright Award for Undergraduate Research Excellence. Congrats to both Ian and Dr. Boskovic
Ian wins the Courtwright Award, and he will soon be applying for graduate schools; grad programs, keep an eye out for his application if you want a talented and resourceful synthetic chemist. news.ku.edu/news/article/k…
