Boston scored just 1 run across their first 24 innings of the second half in Chicago…enter a 2-run HR from Wilyer Abreu, and a pinch-hit 3-run HR from Alex Bregman. Huge.
Pulled after just 64 pitches, Jacob Misiorowski tonight: 3.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 7 K, 1 BB. Hmmm…https://t.co/2nvzOl9tfh
That’s double number 13 on the year for Mike Tauchman, who hasn’t even played 50 games yet…OPS is .832 w/ 5 HRs as well. Could be a corner OF moved next week.
I can’t believe 45 year old Rich Hill is striking out guys like Kyle Tucker on 87 mph fastballs right now. That’s absolutely ELECTRIC…Dick Mountain is a dinosaur!
Max Kepler is going to have to do a LOT more of this to make his $10M contract worth while.
Brad Lord is having a very solid rookie season in DC. The RHP will open tonight…in 35 games he holds a 3.46 ERA, 56 K across 65 innings. Much more fun than Home Depot!
Very neat seeing the Rays taking a flier on Stuart Fairchild…the 29 y/o is in the top 87th percentile in sprint speed, has an above average arm, and doesn’t chase.
No reliever has a better K/9 in baseball than Fernando Cruz. It’s 14.73…with a 3.00 ERA!
6 clubs are still in the mix for the 3 NL Wild Card spots. Cubs, Mets, Padres (the trio holding them) along with the Reds, Giants, and Cardinals…all 3.5 games back. Buckle up.
Tonight’s trade deadline thoughts: - Eugenio Suarez (DET) - Steven Kwan (PHI) - Seth Lugo (CHC) - Zac Gallen (HOU) - Josh Naylor (SEA) - Ryan O’Hearn (SF) - Merrill Kelly (TOR)
In the midst of a terrific season for Detroit, Jack Flaherty must feel left out. He has struggled. Immensely. Just 3 IP tonight…he let up 6 H, 3 R, 3 BB w/ 6 K. Season ERA is 4.77.
Change of sceneries really CAN work. Look at Sale as a recent big example, or Sheets as a small one…Luis Robert Jr is 27 with 25 SB, 10 HR this season. Someone PLEASE.
Riley Greene is such a solid player, that even in his off months, he’ll produce. This July, the Tigers’ OF is worst in K-rate (41%), yet he’s STILL collected 0.2 fWAR, 6 HR, 105 wRC+.
No, this actually isn’t Joc Pederson…it’s 21 year old Victor Figueroa in the Padres system! Across multiple MiLB levels in ‘25: 177 wRC+ (3rd), .327 BA, 12 HR, 46 RBI, .630 SLG. Making lots of noise.
Under the hood, the Jacob Lopez vs Jack Leiter pitching matchup intrigues me. Two young arms: Lopez w/ a 28% K-rate, Leiter averaging 97 mph. Circling this one tonight.
Since June 1st, Isaac Collins has been posting a 160 wRC+ with 5 HR, 17 RBI, 4 SB. Hitting cleanup for Pat Murphy tonight, the Brewers’ LF has driven in 2! Underrated.
He did it AGAIN! Eugenio Suarez now leads MLB in RBI (85). 2 HRs today…2 yesterday.
THESE guys have multiple hits today: - Bryce Johnson (SD) - Paul DeJong (WSH) - Javier Sanoja (MIA) - Kyle Isbel (KC) - LaMonte Wade Jr (LAA) - Andrew Knizner (SF) - Will Wilson (CLE)
