A reminder it's been 21 months since #HongKong based SCMP #journalist Minnie Chan was last seen attending an event in Beijing. Last story filed November 1, 2023. Still no contact. We will never stop hoping for her safe return to her family. Will someone follow up this story?
It is now six months since award-winning #journalist Minnie Chan last filed a story for @SCMPNews. Based here in #HongKong, last seen in Beijing. Her current and former colleagues and the broader community of journalists here care only for her welfare and hope she is OK.

There are many parts of this report that I do not agree with, but I commend the @HudsonInstitute for attempting to tackle an important analytic issue. Not enough academic work is being done on the question of China after Xi Jinping.

I think a "summit" in Beijing is in the offing. Trump has dialed down his confrontational tone with China in an effort to secure a summit with counterpart Xi Jinping and a trade deal bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Wouldn't it be nice if the DEA had a Chinese government partner that was helping to arrest these low lifes.

I always am skeptical of this kind of analysis. No question, policymaking in Washington is messy and often discordant. But why do we assume Beijing is so much more confident and coordinated when we have almost no ability to see inside CCP deliberations?
Is it a trade war or a big deal? Six months into his second term, Trump’s China policy seems to be a bit of both—and neither. And while Washington dithers, China is playing hardball. A conversation with Stephen Biegun, @LizEconomy @bueti at @AspenSecurity wsjchina.cmail20.com/t/d-e-suhslt-d…
While no specific charge is known to have been brought against the individual, Wilder said that it would be unlikely for someone working at the Commerce Department to be engaged in intelligence-gathering operations. “That doesn’t fit any model,” he said. sc.mp/jxol1?utm_sour……
