I'll be vague but I will say we internally treated certain characters as though they were canonically together. I've been pretty on the nose about it in the past so I think it's probably clear who I'm talking about, but yeah, we were never specifically permitted to acknowledge it
Because Chinese people usually call him 猴哥(hou ge)"Brother Monkey", I couldn't stop laughing when Mei called him猴叔(hou shu) "Uncle Monkey". And emotionally, it really feels like a story set after *Journey to the West*. So touching……
