Some seem to think it very virtuous to follow the Bible or Tradition without question. But why a virtue? It wouldn't be, unless all Bible or tradition is virtuous. But it clearly isn't. Anyhow, it wouldn't be virtuous *just* because the Bible or tradition said so. (Thanks, Plato)
Without this, how and why would we decide in the abstract to follow what we think the Bible or Church tradition is saying? Such bizarre decision-making would be compatible with God or tradition coming up with unlovely teaching. 2/2
The Celts told the Angles and Saxons that God had given them the land the Angles and Saxons were invading, and anyway they weren't going to come in if they expected to be put up in posh hotels and have any kind of health care. They must cope with being ill, death and deportation.
The Celts told the Angles and Saxons that they should have stayed in the first safe country and not come on to England, of course.
Just landed in Heathrow Airport T3. Went into M&S. Three staff there with ginger hair. I have ginger hair. They made no attempt to acknowledge our shared gingerhood. I have a video recording & their names to report to M&S. We must confront them every time.

The other way round: suppose Christ had been deaf, Blind, Very tall, Very short, ADHD, Autistic. Would it then follow that priests must be deaf/blind/wheel chair user/autistic? Of course not. Yet being male is made a necessary condition for priesthood. Arbitrary, daft & divisive.
Did he speak Urdu? Was he deaf? Blind? Did he have ADHD? Muscular Dystrophy? Was he autistic? All these possibilities are in their way go to the heart of a person's identity. But we rightly don't exclude people from priesthood when in possession of any of these features. 2/2
Sorry - redundant 'are' in this post. More haste, less speed.

Claiming that a union jack garment can symbolise 'British culture' resembles claiming that 'the gene for being a witch' refers to something real, or that 'white culture' does, or that 'the science of astrology' does, or...etc etc
What aspect of so-called 'British Culture' could this student possibly embrace? UK citizens include subgroups with links to ethnicity, geographical origins of ancestors, different parts of the UK, accents, faiths, etc. And what, if anything does this girl know about all that?
A union jack garment has nothing to do with British Culture. Indeed, whether there is such a thing as the latter is debatable, to say the least. Are all folk from Newcastle on Tyne the same as each other? How far do they resemble those from Mayfair? Peckham? Truro? This is just..
Something has suddenly reminded me of my favourite postcard.. I suspect this is replicated everywhere but I saw it first in Australia..a totally black card with the caption “Night in Woy Woy.”
Spotted the phrase 'ethnic brotherhood'. Racism alert! There's no such thing as 'ethnic brotherhood'. To claim otherwise is saying that there are personal features shared by a particular ethnicity. That's racist. There are no such commonalities.
Just scaremongering, as usual. All those silly reds and oranges! Obviously the temperatures are being measured near airport runways, and the sea is subject to urban heat island effects. The Mediterranean was much hotter ...um... next year..

Why are some so angry about the research informed claim that it's on average getting hotter? Why so furious at the thought that the 1976 summer, though amazing, is now overtaken by events? Do people just want reality to conform to their desires, and can't bear that it won't?
Does the AI name 'grok' come from the sci fi writer Heinlein's Martian verb “grok", which is all about knowing and understanding? Perhaps everyone knew this except me?
