🏆 Artist ~ realistic pastel paintings. I like to draw spoons! Originals and limited edition prints now available.
And it’s finished! This was a huge challenge as I wanted to create the stainless steel effect with only pastel pencils. Pastel pencils on Pastlemat.

After completing a few commissions, I’m immersing myself in a complex still life drawing…hoping it will be worth the effort. 🤗🍅🫑🧄☺️🤞
I decided to add another head shot to the gallery and felt the soothing pinks of the galah were just what was needed. I know I’ve done a galah before, but it’s been that kind of week!

Just back from the Singleton Art Prize and I was thrilled to receive a first place and a highly commended in the Local category. Hey @SandyHorne61 we did alright! 😉🏆👊

I’ll be delivering these drawings to the Singleton Art Show today…I don’t enter many shows these days, but this is a great local art prize that attracts artists and visitors from all over the country. If you’re in the area this weekend, check it out. ☺️🖼️🏆🤞

Just when I think I have finished all the pieces for my exhibition later this year, I find another photo from an amazing local photographer that I just have to draw! This New Holland Honeyeater, with attitude, is from a photo by Dean Quinlivan. Pastel pencils on Pastlemat.

Finished this little wren today…I’m happy enough, but I’ll have a look at him with fresh eyes tomorrow. ☺️ Pastel pencils on Canson Velvet paper. Ref: Dean Quinlivan

Finished the veggie study…and I enjoyed every minute of it! ☺️🫑🍅🥬🧄 Pastel pencils on Canson Velvet paper. ref: Kathy Hancock

About halfway there on the still life drawing and my biggest take from it to date, is to avoid drawing garlic again at all costs! 🧄😳 Pastel pencils on Pastlemat. Ref: Kathy Hancock.

Gorgeous ‘Rudi’ was a pleasure to draw…all that fur! Sadly it was a memorial piece, but his human is very happy with the portrait. Hopefully it brings back happy memories of a beautiful boy. Pastel pencils on Pastlemat.

A bit further along with the veggie still life…and I’m really enjoying the different textures and shapes. The background will be almost black, so that should make it pop! Pastel pencils. Ref: Kathy Hancock.
I’ve had some lovely comments lately, on my spoon drawing from a couple of years ago. Found an old (shaky) ‘in progress’ clip. 🤭🥄
A cute red cardinal finished this week…I do love drawing red birds!❤️ Pastel pencils on Pastlemat. Ref: Dave Cotty.

Finished the fourth (and final) Aussie bird mug shot…a slightly scruffy looking kookaburra. Looking forward to seeing them framed and hung together. 🤗 Pastel pencils on Velvet. Ref: Leanne Bakker.

The lemon still life is done. It was my first time using red velvet and I’m happy with the overall effect…but that tablecloth!😬😳

An update on the lemons…I’m now working on the negative space on the embroidered napkin. Tricky stuff!🫣 I nearly didn’t bother and just left it plain, but where’s the challenge in that.😳

New work in progress. I’m taking a break from the birds for a while…🫣 I’m really enjoying seeing the colours pop on the vibrant red paper! ❤️🍋 Pastel pencils on mi teintes velvet. Ref: Wendy Hodgkins Corniquet.
