It’s about time I updated my commissions sheet and opened em back up! If you’re interested in supporting me and my art beyond engaging with my posts, this is a big way to help me out! If you’re interested or have questions, please feel free to contact me :) #sciart #paleoart

WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? LOOKS LIKE SOME KIND OF HYBRID - THINK INDOMINUS REX IF I HAD TO GUESS, A MIX OF XENOSMILE, BLANDING’S TURTLE, CEPHALOTES.
Hey, #DinoCon attendees! I'm super excited to share that I’ll also be offering some awesome 3D printed, rigorously reconstructed skeletal models of the Russian pareiasaur, #Scutosaurus karpinskii! Can’t wait to see you all there!
while birds don't generally make for the best reference for non-avian dinosaurs, there's many out there that serve as great jumping off points the columbids are some of my favourites to reference
make your dinosaurs as weird as you'd like but maybe don't reference AI generated images when doing it, here's some real satyr tragopan images (keep in mind their horns and wattle are only visible during courtship displays and territorial disputes during breeding season)
I am proud and grateful to present a dream project today in @Nature! nature.com/articles/s4158… Meet #Mirasaura grauvogeli, a #wonderreptilewith skin appendages that rival feathers and hairs, challenging our view of reptile #evolution🪶🦎
my biggest paleo hot take is that the Papo tyrannosaurus is really not that big of a deal and hating on it for being everywhere is kinda lame
The Wilhelm scream of dino media had been located in the #jurassicworldrebirth storyboards.
there’s a really weird mindset in this community that skeletal artists are just people who churn out products to be made into art by others, providing “inspiration” (which typically just culminates in tracing the original); if that’s how you feel, give this a read
I've seen that many in the community use skeletal diagrams and anatomical references without regard for the original artists' rights. Consequently, I've updated my website's usage page to clarify my stance on the usage of these materials. thecodontia.com/licensingpage
impressive. this community has to be the only one capable of bullying a professional concept artist into deleting their own concept art that wasn’t even used in the film
For those wanting to know a little more about the tracks, they're made by a hexapod (or at least, an animal with 6 legs that happened to be touching the ground at that time), and the animal was travelling laterally, like a crab.
Even a sabercat is creeped out by a 1 m long hellgrammite in Miocene Spain :B Inspired by a 2023 paper that describes "Aenigmatipodus", a mysterious ichnofossil apparently left by a huge arthropod. The idea of it being a hellgrammite is mine- the press went with "giant cockroach"
I just interpreted this line as dinosaur (informal meaning a big extinct animal), not that Dr. Loomis doesn't know. I've heard paleontologists use dinosaur this way informally on occasion, and quite often in pop culture.
I feel like every dinosaur fan physically wince when this scene happens lmao Although i saw a funny theory that Loomis over the years just got tired of explaining they werent dinosaurs so he's just decided fuck it 👍
IDK... when I compare the proportions of S. rapax to other velociraptorines, it seems that the skull is decently shorter in proportion to its overall length, not just in the snout, but the entire skull as well. Here's a rough reconstruction I created yesterday.
going to consider reposting S. rapax tomorrow, too tired having armchairs, academics and self-proclaimed science communicators say i'm misinterpreting the material when they don't know what i did here's some of my original sketch, showing how i reconstructed the skull

i forsee a glorious future where pterosaurs are included within dinosauria and the humble paleofan crumbles to dust
Fundamentally, historical happenstance. Owen did not recognize their immediate relationship when naming Dinosauria based on two ornithischians and a theropod, so they were not included in the conception of "dinosaur" from thereon. They do form a natural group together.
something maybe worth thinking about is that a crest on the beak is not unknown in azhdarchids, and the closest relative (based on Andres 2021) to Q. northropi that we do have skull material for (outside of Q.lawsoni of course) is Wellnhopterus, the one with the crest on its beak
Which Jurassic World Quetzalcoatlus design do you guys prefer? (repost) #JurassicWorldRebirth #JurassicWorld
what could have been
While Jurassic World Rebirth did have enjoyable moments. It also had incredibly stupid plot devices. But my least favorite has to be this….LIKE HOW DID ANY OF THAT MAKE SENSE!?
make your dinosaurs as weird as you'd like but maybe don't reference AI generated images when doing it, here's some real satyr tragopan images (keep in mind their horns and wattle are only visible during courtship displays and territorial disputes during breeding season)
silently squeezing my giant dorito head through the ceiling without anyone noticing
Wait wait wait listen to me. What if you can only see its crest above the aisles as it moves through the store, like a shark's fin?

I don't know who needs to hear this, but: Accurate ≠ Automatically Good Innacurate ≠ Automatically Bad I kinda figured this went without saying but there's a wierd trend I'm noticing with how paleomedia is recieved online, and it bugs me a little
