In addition to this, significant discrepancies were identified in the year 2020 due to covid-19 related disruptions to routine GDM screening. In essence, there was a large reduction in the diagnosis of gestational diabetes.
The analysis identified discrepancies, with 564 false negatives (1.5% of the total cohort) & 771 false positives (2.0%) present in the EHR data from 2018-2022. These discrepancies did not impact the model training much, however, noise in the test set reduced evaluation metrics.
Happy to have one of my PhD chapters published in @jmirpub Medical Informatics. The main research question we tried to answer was: To what extent are the data contained in the EHRs accurate, and if there is label noise, to what extent could this impact ML modelling of GDM?
How do we reconcile the tension that athletes need to make mistakes in order to learn, but compete in environments where errors have consequences? (1/6)
