On 5/14, our very own @dbittermanmd from @BrighamWomens participated in a panel at @statnews Breakthrough Summit West! The panel discussed the importance of #AI in cancer care.
Time for: AI in Cancer Care On the stage: - @dbittermanmd - @DrKarenKnudsen - @CliffordHudis - STAT's @angRchen We'll hear a wide-ranging view of how the use of technology could play out over the next few years. #STATBreakthrough #AI
I’m thrilled to be in San Francisco for @statnews’ Breakthrough West Summit! I’ll be bringing my firsthand perspective as a physician-scientist at @MassGenBrigham to speak about how AI is transforming cancer care. Let's connect if you're here! #STATBreakthroughSummitWest

Conference and professional societies: PLEASE make hybrid options available for attendees and presenters at your conferences so that scientists from HHS-funded agencies can attend. These are unmissable opportunities to hear from top-notch great intramural science and scientists.
As a cancer doctor I see every day how NIH-funded clinical trials save lives. Here's 1 example: In the 1970s, childhood cancer survival was only 58%. Today it is 85%, largely thanks to NIH/NCI funding of Children's Oncology Group trials.

1/4: Excited to share that our work on "Collaborative large language models for automated data extraction in living systematic reviews" has been published in the @JAMIA_Journal. Grateful to @IrbazRiaz @cbaral @M_Hassan_Murad @JeannePalmerMD for their support and guidance.
I need people to understand how difficult it is to get an NIH grant. You spend months writing a proposal, following strict guidelines that include a detailed multiyear budget, bios of everyone on your team, plans for participant safety & ethical conduct. Then you send it off -1/n
AI in Radiation Therapy: @SteveJiangPhD, @matthewdeek, Danielle S. Bitterman, Philip A. Sutera, and Ruijiang Li addressed this topic in a plenary session at the AACR Conference on Translating Targeted Therapies in Combination with Radiotherapy. #AACRradiation25 @dbittermanmd
In addition to the research funded by the NIH, I am grateful and indebted to the dedicated NIH scientists & staff. Their work advances breakthroughs, scientific careers, and improves & saves lives across the U.S
41% of all births in the US are covered by Medicaid. Overnight, Republicans are destroying healthcare for millions of Americans - and it isn’t just Trump. Republican majorities in the House and the Senate are backing this illegal sabotage. They are ALL in on it. Every one.
UPDATE: Numerous sources now ARE reporting problems with the Medicaid payment system, per @ddiamond. More TK
