There wasn't a lot of NBA games on TV back in 1970-71, but television stations were hoping to get bigger ratings with a high-priced rookie named Pete Maravich coming into the league.

February 6, 1971 - Ole Miss Rebel sophomore Johnny Neumann scores 2 of his 46 points against the Kentucky Wildcats.

December 30, 1968 - Press Maravich and his LSU Tigers defeated the Duquesne Dukes 94-91 to capture the 1968 All-College Basketball Tournament. LSU's Pete Maravich was named the tournament MVP.


December 19, 1967 - The LSU Tigers returned to Baton Rouge and to the win column in their first SEC game. LSU's Pete Maravich scored 46 as the Tigers defeated the Ole Miss Rebels 81-68.


December 22, 1967 - LSU Fans sat in the aisles to watch the Tigers tame the Bulldogs 111-87. Pete Maravich, who endured a cold first half with only 16 points, erupted for 42 in the final 20 minutes to break Bob Pettit's school scoring record in an SEC game.

February 25, 1971 - University of Southwestern Louisiana's Dwight Lamar scored 62 points to lead his Ragin Cajuns to a 107-104 OT victory over Northeast Louisiana.

December 27, 1970 - University of Southwestern Louisiana's Dwight Lamar and his Bulldog teammates were off to a fast 8-0 start during the 1970-71 season.


December 19, 1970 - Sophomore Dwight Lamar scored 46 points to lead the University of Southwestern Louisiana to an 88-71 victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys.


February 1966 - Lebanon's Rick Mount signs autographs after winning a sectional championship game.
