July 27, 1979: Rusty Staub received a standing ovation of about seven minutes before he was able to take a swing as a pinch hitter in his first appearance at home for the #expos after a trade with Detroit July 20. Rusty flied out but the ovation, the moment, will last a lifetime.

All the best to Nelson Santovenia on his birthday today. He was a catcher for the #expos off and on from 1987-1991.

July 27, 2003: Gary Carter was inducted into Cooperstown with an #expos logo on his plaque, even though he wanted to go in as a Met. The folks at the hall of fame told him his most important years in the majors were spent with Montreal, meaning he had to be inducted as an Expo.

July 27, 1970: John Boccabella drove in two runs and six different #expos had two hits each in a 10-6 win over the @whitesox in the Hall of Fame game in Cooperstown.

Wishing the best to Dave Dombrowski on his birthday today. A big part of the #expos executive staff in the 1980s and early 1990s before he went to the @marlins. Currently running the show with the @phillies.

Happy birthday today to Greg Colbrunn. He played for the #expos in 1992-93.

Remembering the late Carroll Sembera, who was born July 26, 1941. He pitched for the #expos in 1969-70.

July 26, 2015: former #expos Randy Johnson and Pedro Martinez were inducted into Cooperstown. It was the first and only time two Montreal players were inducted on the same day. It was the first of a few visits by me to an induction ceremony.

July 26, 1973: Steve Rogers spun a one-hitter in outduelling Steve Carlton for his first MLB win as the #expos defeated the @phillies 4-0 at Veterans Stadium. Pepe Frias drove in two runs for Montreal.

July 26, 1991: Mark Gardner of the #expos fired a no-hitter through nine innings but lost the gem in the 10th when Lenny Harris beat out an infield single. At one point, Gardner had retired 19 in a row. The @dodgers won the game 1-0. Two days later, you know what happened.

Happy birthday today to Guillermo Mota. He pitched in 743 games in the majors, all in relief, 133 of them with the #expos from 1999-2001.

Remembering the late Mickey Scott, who was born July 25, 1947 in Welmar, Germany. He pitched in 22 games for the #expos in 1973.

July 25, 2010: Andre Dawson was inducted into Cooperstown. An #expos stalwart from 1976-86.

Wishing the best to Javier Vazquez on his birthday today. A bulldog for the #expos from 1998-2003. He collected a career-high 241 strikeouts while pitching for Montreal in 2003. Finished with more than 2,500 Ks and more than 2,800 IP.

July 25, 1975: the Larry Lintz experiment with the #expos ended when he was traded to St. Louis for Jim Dwyer. Lintz had phenomenal speed but he didn't get on base enough.

July 24, 1994: Rondell White drove in all seven runs for the #expos when they beat the @dodgers 7-4 at Olympic Stadium. White had two singles, a double and a home run. His close friend Cliff Floyd went 4-for-4.

Remembering the late Don Drysdale, who was born July 23, 1936. He was a broadcaster and coach for the #expos in the 1970s.

July 23, 2001: Peter Bergeron of the #expos hit safely in his 19th consecutive game to tie the franchise record held by Warren Cromartie and Andre Dawson.

Happy birthday today to 1993-94 #expos coach Tim Johnson. Even though he admitted to lying about serving in Vietnam, he guided the @bluejays to an 88-74 record in 1998, one of the best in franchise history.
