The CA Department of Housing and Community Development (@California_HCD) has mandated San Francisco to build 82k new homes by 2031. Uh oh 😳 I have an idea that will help: Tear down the Central Freeway. Its presence currently blocks tens of thousands of potential homes.
He promised to cut prices on day one. Instead he increased them - on purpose.
Hate to be a wet blanket here, but the housing crisis in many US cities began during Obama’s first term. In SF, rents basically doubled after the smartphone boom—startups, job/population growth, but no housing. I wish Obama had spoken up then. He’s more than a decade late!
Obama weighs in on Abundance:
Abolish outdated impact fees that block housing and other infrastructure. If nothing gets built, there’s no revenue to collect. We’re taxing ghosts. SF has some of the most complex, burdensome fees in the country. It’s time for real reform.

Your job is to fix potholes. Mission Street won’t be repaved until 2027, despite being a vital commercial corridor that’s cracked & crumbling. Storefronts are empty, families dodge drug dealing, and kids walk through open-air fencing operations. What exactly are you doing?

Apparently Mission Street between 14th–16th and nearby streets and alleys no longer count as San Francisco? The level of public disorder is out of control and city leadership is completely MIA. I’ve lived in the area since 2006 and it’s never been like this. Not even close.
