Crypto goes through cycles, and it's always surprising just how obvious it is when you meet real missionaries who have been working on developing the technology through highs and lows, vs. the mercenaries looking to cash in at the highs. It's never subtle.
Earlier this week, we shared with our team that I’m stepping into the CEO role at @ModernTreasury, and @dadiomov will become President, focusing on product innovation. I’m grateful to Dimitri, @samaarons, and our Board for their trust. Our mission remains the same: build the…

I really loved this conversation with the great EconTalk @Econtalker podcast about how to read and why. In an age of infinite digital distractions books remain the greatest information technology ever invented. Nothing else even comes close. youtube.com/watch?v=88c36U…
This is cool - for users in countries where bank payments are the default, but want to buy things from other countries, PayPal is now trying to become "interoperable" with a Global Digital Wallet

Finished #6. Didn’t like this one as much - less interesting of a villain, less travel. All happens on a tiny island off Jamaica and Bond escapes via an obstacle course. It made for the first 1962 film and launched Bond and also Sean Connery’s career, so can’t hate it too much.
Finished #5. This was the best so far - can really see Fleming getting better at his craft. This was also the big breakout in getting James Bond loved by the American audience. When JFK was elected, he put “From Russia With Love” on his favorite books list, and sales skyrocketed.
The US payment system is less government-controlled and more privately driven than most countries. The GENIUS act, by encouraging private stablecoins and discouraging a single central bank issued token, continues that tradition. And so, new Visa/Mastercards will form this decade.
The reaction of a British founder who went to visit YC: "It has a fantastic buzz about it – a huge empowering energy – but also a collaborative and encouraging kindness that could so easily be absent."
"Oracle’s share price has nearly tripled since ChatGPT’s public release in November 2022." I bet this wouldn't have happened if Oracle wasn't founder led. No one would've predicted Oracle as the beneficiary of consumer AI, except that Ellison made moves to pursue an opportunity.
Jamie Dimon interview yesterday was 🔥 Loved his line about how he felt when he was pushed out of Citi. “It impacted my net worth, not my self worth.” Bank One wasn’t an obvious place to go. But it felt right to him, and the rest is history.

It seems clear that stablecoins are creating capital flight out of weaker, more volatile currencies and into the USD. But will that ultimately make the dollar more stable (=aggregates a larger denominator?) or less stable (=imports those other countries' issues into the USD?)
