The #WayBackWednesday post from the History Hub takes us back to #Chester in the 1880s. The image is a view of the west side of Bridge Street including the Dutch Houses

1988. There was an excavation on the site by David Mason that revealed a valuable sequence of Roman and Saxon defences. There is an interim report in vol 73 of our journal, available free to read here: archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/library/browse….
