🚨 Autumn Covid Boosters🚨 We've received responses from the JCVI & DHSC about millions set to be denied vaccines this autumn. "The Government has received advice from the [JCVI] [...]. It is now considering the advice [...] carefully and will respond in due course." 1/🧵
🚨ANNOUNCEMENT: Our open letter, signed by leading scientists & HCPs, urges the JCVI & UK Gov to reverse the decision denying Covid vaccines to millions of Clinically Vulnerable people who still qualify for 'flu vaccines. A "willingness-to-pay" approach puts lives at risk. 1/
Covid levels have been low for a while, yet a 'low' week still means 71 deaths across the UK: equivalent to double-decker bus full of potentially preventable deaths. We need to do better!
Covid Deaths in the UK (in memory of @tigresseleanor) Week 28 = 71 Registered UK Covid Deaths w/e 11th July 2025 England 55 Wales 6 Scotland 4 NI 6 UK 71 1/
To be clear, I’m not tired of wearing a respirator (I’ve been doing this a long time, even before 2020; it wasn’t/isn’t stigmatized in Asia)—I’m tired of the failure of governance and public health; I’m tired of ignorance, apathy, judgment, and ableism. Yet I persist.
Using bank cards as voter ID would be amazing! Clinically vulnerable people should have the option to vote -and perform other tasks - safely. Not all clinically vulnerable people are protected by the Equality Act 2010 as they aren't all considered disabled. This is a great start!
Voting changes may let mask wearers vote without demasking: bank cards have been added to the accepted‑ID list. 1/
Maybe one day our families will receive the apology we deserve from those who have portrayed us as overly anxious over real risks. This is my last post.
The final preliminary hearing for the Children & Young People’s module was today, CVF, again, made the case for safety. Children's deaths *would* have been higher if many Clinically Vulnerable families had not kept their children away from schools. ⚠️Long thread 1/
I'm finished for the year! Thank you for all your support. It's not easy being the only one doing this, and you really help.🧵
A final piece of advice from Holly Butcher - written the day before she passed away from cancer at just 27: “It’s a strange thing knowing you’re going to die young. At 26, I thought I had time… To fall in love. Start a family. Grow old. But cancer doesn’t care about plans.…
A dear friend of mine had a lung transplant in late 2021 and after three months went home. His domiciliary carer did not wear a mask. He died within two weeks of getting home.
TLDR - Two points: 1. Disinformation on the appropriate management of airborne infections continues to risk lives. 2. When your family is vulnerable and settings aren't safe, you will act to protect them. 🧵 theguardian.com/society/2025/j…
@laurakyrkesmith We discussed public health and prevention at the NHS consultation I attended. However, still nothing is being done. And now a child has died of measles. This is preventable. Airborne IPC measures are desperately needed @covidinquiryuk
