Since his Test debut, Zak Crawley has more Test caps and more Test inns than anyone else in Test cricket except Root. He has also opened more often than any other opener in Test cricket No player in Test history has played >=105 inns in the top six scoring only 10.2% of team runs

She looks like prime Mike Tyson x.com/AMAZlNGNATURE/…
The female lioness looks more intimidating than the male 😳
The one thing Crawley has going for him is that pace doesn't bother him. Traditionally, players who are not bothered by pace have tended to be considered class players - playing speed well suggests that they pick the line and length early. x.com/cricketingview…

Crawley's an ordinary player. He plays only because it doesn't really matter who ENG play at opener. Duckett on the other hand, is an original, a la Sehwag.
Craeley has a half century at 71% control on a flat 2nd day pitch.
He didn't err. That's what attacking bowling is on a flat pitch. He's trying to get it to move. When it doesn't move it's a drive.

Crawley's middled about 40% of his wafts outside off stump. Its just that today, he's survived that other 60%. This is both why he averages 30 and why he occasionally makes very fast, very quick hundreds.
This is going to be a long day for IND... 250/1 by the end is not out of the question.
See that over.... Siraj to Crawley... three wafts outside off stump. Two inside edges which could have gone anywhere. And one cover drive for four. This smells of a wafty, chancy Crawley hundred...
One over, one waft from Crawley. The rate of wafts increases. And somehow, he's 80 not out.
Old Trafford is where Crawley made that extremely chancy 189 isn't it? 52 false shots in 182 balls in that innings from him. He's going to do something like that again today isn't he? That sort of thing happens once every couple of years.
If you support IND, pray that they get a good ball to bowl with, and that the catches stick...
Technically, if Pant ducks into a ball from Archer or Stokes or Woakes, IND can get a concussion substitute for him. He won't. But he could.
