Podcast on everything quantum for anyone and everyone hosted by Ash Lyons Want to understand what "quantum" actually means? You've come to the right place
Now this was a really interesting discussion! @gemmamilne talks about how we hype quantum tech, how that can help build public interest and investment, but also about the potential dangers of hyping too much or in the wrong way youtu.be/pbYbLPxUy0c
In today's video I have a look at several recent studies that document how AI us makes us brain-lazy youtube.com/watch?v=H3_6sR…
"We could be within 5 years of really falsifying Einstein's classical theory." How? By generating entanglement in an experiment to test quantum gravity! I'm excited to release a technical deep-dive into how to test quantum features of gravity, explained in an approachable and…
Understand. Don't memorize. Learn principles, not formulas. - R. Feynman
youtube.com/shorts/oldD8K8… How difficult would it be to get her mate Paul in for an interview? 🤔
Why is Scotland one of the best places to be for quantum research and innovation? Dr Alison McLeod from @Tech_Scot gives us a fantastic answer to this and discusses the scottish quantum industry as a whole. Thanks for the chat Alison! youtu.be/lj6uQdgfAk0
PhD Students - How to write a research proposal? A good research proposal should have the following. 1️⃣ Synopsis 2️⃣ Background to the problem 3️⃣ Significance of the problem 4️⃣ Objectives 5️⃣ Research questions 6️⃣ Methods 7️⃣ Ethical awareness 8️⃣ Timeframe 9️⃣ Facilities…

This is super important! I would also say it goes beyond the supervisor. Talk to other researchers in the group and see what the environment is like. Definitely visit if you can. I always offer prospective students the opportunity to talk to current students without me there
A PhD interview works both ways. Ensure that the supervisor is also the right fit for you.

This is a solid quote, and something we should always be aware of as scientists. The more you learn, the more you find out just how little you know

One of my hobbies is attending science fiction conventions and telling panelists that quantum entanglement does not enable faster-than-light communications.
The Casimir Effect is a quantum phenomenon where two uncharged, parallel metal plates placed very close together in a vacuum attract each other. This happens due to quantum fluctuations in the vacuum, showing that even empty space has energy.
Quantum Entanglement ✍️ Quantum entanglement is when two or more particles become so deeply connected that the state of one instantly determines the state of the other, no matter how far apart they are. This strange connection baffled even Einstein, who called it "spooky action…
Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real. If quantum mechanics hasn't profoundly shocked you, you haven't understood it yet. - Niels Bohr
