Satellite data helped detect, and fix, a methane leak: in 2023, data from GHGSat, delivered via @esa's Third Party Missions, enabled the detection of methane escaping from a faulty pipe in the UK. In this interview, scientists behind the discovery explain how it happened and why…
Nope, other telescopes saw 3I/ATLAS up to a month earlier than Rubin, the Zwickly Transient Facility in particular: see groups.io/g/comets-ml/me… for a table of Zwicky's data about its brightness going back to 22 May 2025.

Interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS imaged by HST on 2025-07-21. Cosmic ray hits removed. Hubble took 2 sets of 2 images, 1st set was taken about 90 minutes before the 2nd set, hence the large change in background stars.

Oh hey there, friends! 👋 On its way to Jupiter, NASA’s Europa Clipper caught a glimpse of Mars and its two moons. The dark circle at the top of the planet is a polar ice cap, and the fainter circle below is the region around Elysium Mons. Details: go.nasa.gov/3Uhjylf
Are there places on Jupiter's moon Europa where water is near the surface? Our Europa Clipper spacecraft will use its E-THEMIS instrument to find out. In March, the instrument went through a test run at Mars: go.nasa.gov/3Uhjylf
