If fertility rates depended merely on providing sufficient $$$, what would be the reason for having a goal of replacement level rather than helping people realize their own fertility wishes (however high or low they may be) or for nudging societies toward rates +/- replacement?
Around the world, it would take probably less than 5% of global GDP added on top of current child benefits as an annual child allowance to raise every single below-replacement-rate country to replacement rate.
