I'm back! Named @MiamiDolphins columnist for @SunSentinel today, replacing my man @OmarKelly. Be working w/@DavidFurones_ on my 3rd Fins stint after working w/@alexmarvez (2000-02), Omar (2012-18) & at The Athletic (2018-20). Start in about 2 weeks!!
Ok, folks, I'm out...got McD at 8:15. Enjoyed it...let's do it again
I like McD but I wish he'd make some philosophical changes on and off the field
Ok i googled it. Yea he seems a bit bitter over you watching his pregame ritual or whatever it was he was doing. Also read your Finhaven article from May. I agree. Mediocrity at best this season. Tua needs to stay healthy for that goal to be achieved too. Not a McDaniel fan.
I always say there's no formula, you do what's best for ur team at that particular time. There's a best business practice but no formula
You don’t go all in unless you have a good QB.
I ask questions on behalf of fans/readers, so I'll try but no promises...and it'd probably be more beneficial if I used different phrasing 🤣🤣
Perk please ask someone tomorrow why they are being cheap with CB. Cornell Armstrong helps nothing. Just give Rasul Douglas what he wants.
Agree. In this case, with this team, coming w/in one score of Buff isn't a reason to be proud. Same w/KC in Germany. U should beat Buff at home & maybe once on road. Can't go 1-6 vs. Buff in McD era & pride urself on coming close. Gotta win
If this was horseshoes or hand grenades, close would matter. An L is an L.
Grier has been in charge of draft since 2016. His 1st rders have been good. But that gets into whether u think guys such as Austin Jackson were good picks (I think so) & whether u think Waddle over Sewell was wise (maybe not but Waddle is quality)
I could go on, but when there are several exceptions, it’s the rule.
All good...keep in touch
Will do. I’ll definitely get back to you—maybe i’m waaay off on this…
Unfortunately that's a fitting title
Fanatics can't be unbiased, Perk. This team should be considered "The Masters of Mediocrity."
Good!! Fans like you are essential personnel. Seriously. There's always a limit to what fans should tolerate, but you're what every franchise needs
Optimism Chris. We need to have hope. I am blind as a fan I see a new season as another chance.
If Sieler, Chubb, Phillips & Chop all stay healthy, Grant should learn pass rush moves from the vets & benefit from the attention they get on passing downs
We agree on that. In 2025, DT get sacks. I think he'll be an Ole school DT and just be a run stuffer, no pass rush to speak of.
Thanks...hopefully they find the secret sauce & it's a good year for everyone
Appreciate your coverage. Could be another long year 😂
Lol
Live look at Chris Grier upon hearing he can get an injured Wilkins on discount!
Facts...unfortunately 🤣🤣
Believe you-me. Single, dating or married. Life is tough out there
Hmmm...funny guy. Yeah, in a way. I have nothing against Wilkins but he has something against me. When u have some free time, Google 'chris perkins wilkins might not like me' 🤣
Too bad. He seems like good dude—funny guy. Enjoyed watching him play. REAL good player too. Seems like a foot injury like that could hurt his career.
Agree. Smh
Which I hate to say it tells me everything you need to know about what this organizations standards are at this point, sigh.
Maybe, maybe not. Think they coulda got good CB in 3rd rd. Bigger regret, and I hope I'm not right, could be passing on TE Tyler Warren, who went to Indy one pick later
Should’ve gone corner.
He could add a lot to this defense if he's good as a rookie. And could add a lot to this franchise if he's good thru his rookie contract
Hopefully, for Miami fans, you're right.
Possibly...probably. It's pretty late to undergo major surgery...and I'm assuming it would be major surgery
Oh man—he’d be out another year if he has to have surgery.
Ur right. The rebuild was gonna be from the ground up. But when McD arrived in '22, it went to 'win now.' Again, I liked & supported that strategy in that situation. Grier & McD amassed good talent. I thought it was deployed incorrectly. Too much finesse
The “f those picks” strategy wasn’t the initial phase, IMO. The initial plan was to build thru the draft but the 2019, 2020, & 2021 drafts to begin the rebuild with a ton of picks were so bad, with so little impact, that they changed to “f those picks” to compensate in 2022.
I have no idea. Have no idea if Fins, or any team, would want him to have foot surgery
Apparently he didn’t rehab his injury last season as well as he should’ve…Raiders voided the remaining $. Is he anywhere near healthy enough to play this season?
