autonomous boat factories @zydromarine, map data @vectorcharts, former eng @anduriltech — I build big robots that drive, fly and float — talks about boats a lot
I love grafana I love drone boats So I put grafana on my drone boat, and now I can stream live telemetry over 4G #grafana #ardupilot #drone
Bought the Apartment Destroyer 41000 (don't tell my wife)

Sundays are for sanding until you can’t feel your hands - using totalboat fairing compound over PLA print

at a point as a maker where my personal projects are leaving the (safe, easy, clean) 3D printing world and into the realm of Real Shit (composites, metalwork, and high voltage)… which does not work well in my Boston apartment
Not sure if the VESC sensorless FOC tuning is bad or this is just the best I can expect with this motor. Low-RPM cogging is rough… but I guess I won’t hear it underwater!
Quick-turn sheet metal mfg is so awesome. I can't believe I can just slap together a design & get a beautiful, precise, powder-coated part at pricing accessible to hobbyists.
Nothing beats the feeling of making something in CAD, ordering parts, waiting weeks for things to arrive... and it fits together perfectly

This is a sign of poor design, but I get a ton of enjoyment out of niche fasteners - this 316 stainless shoulder bolt feels like it just came off a lathe an hour ago

When I prototype, my guiding principle is to delay decisions: Unsure what the drivetrain will be? Add a generic hole pattern. How many sensors will I need? Add CAN bus and ethernet and move on. I rarely have a project designed fully in CAD before I start fabricating.
I did not think through how large these prints would be before sending it

Good morning hardware prototypers, remember to consume your daily dose of threaded inserts
