Postdoc at the University of Manchester researching inflammasomes
Have you submitted your abstract yet? Don't miss out on this great meeting! Fantastic line up (really!!) and great occasion for ECR to present their research for talks and poster!
🔥 Dive into the latest on inflammasomes, innate immunity & more at our event with @BSI_Inflam on 11–12 Sept in Manchester! Cutting-edge talks, career workshops & networking with experts. Abstract deadline: 15 July! ☑️ Submit your abstract & register: bit.ly/43q9x9r
NEW PAPER ALERT! 🚨 And it dropped on my bday, so thanks @braincomms! C9orf72 dipeptides activate the NLRP3 inflammasome 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 Huge thanks to @choyle22, @mere_conjecture, @ComorbidCath & the rest of the team not on X, plus @AlzSocResearch for funding. academic.oup.com/braincomms/art…
In some animals, a crucial protein has evolved to work differently, like a chef who no longer needs to be in the control room but still coordinates with the team for a more efficient kitchen. @choyle22 @Rose_Wellens nature.com/articles/s4146…
Our new paper exploring the nuclear role of pro-IL-1α is out now in Nature Comms! nature.com/articles/s4146… A first for myself as a first author and @choyle22 as corresponding author… go team!! 💪🏻 Such valuable work and support from all the other wonderful people involved ✨
Our paper is now out in @CellReports! Please give it a read, particularly those interested in #microglia, #macrophages, and #stroke. We show the MNP response to stroke is all about where you're from (ontogeny), where you're at (space), and where youre heading (substates).
Phenotypic and spatial heterogeneity of brain myeloid cells after stroke is associated with cell ontogeny, tissue damage, and brain connectivity dlvr.it/T77dZw
My first ever research paper is out !! 👩🏼🔬🎉 👉👉pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38327788/ A natural product "brazilin" inhibits the NLRP3 inflammasome pathway, a key driver of numerous inflammatory human diseases including those affecting the brain such as stroke and dementia.
An exciting PhD opportunity to join my lab studying NLRP3 inflammasome in vascular dementia. This project is in collaboration with @KasherLab Prof. David Brough, and Dr. Ingo Schiessl. Please contact me for details ([email protected]) findaphd.com/phds/project/m…
⚠️ New #NF2 research paper out! I am elated! Are #NF2SWN #vestibularschwannoma similar or different to sporadic tumours? Read the paper or the video abstract to find out! academic.oup.com/braincomms/art… Thanks to our fab authors and funders @nf2biosolution1 @NF2BioSolutions @DNS_UOM
NF2-related schwannoma & sporadic vestibular schwannoma: same tumour or different? See our recent paper to find out! @GJBrainResearch @SNOMAN_Lab @MCCN_UK @LydiaBeckerIII @NCAresearchNHS @MCRskullbase academic.oup.com/braincomms/art…
Happy to share that our paper on the discovery of compounds that inhibit the AIM2 inflammasome is now published 🥳 – Check it out here cell.com/iscience/fullt…
Studying various cell lines, researchers probe the inflammasome #NLRP3 and show how disruptions to #endosomal trafficking can sensitize macrophages to NLRP3 activators, enhancing inflammasome activation and cytokine secretion. @FBMH_UoM scim.ag/1En
Happy that our latest paper on NLRP3 activation is out, great work by @BaliCLee @wellens_rose and everyone else!! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
Beyond thrilled to have our research published in @scisignal AND to get the front cover 🤯🔬 The teamwork that went into this paper is something that we’re all very proud of🧪@choyle22 @drjackpgreen @UoM_GEU @BillieJMatchett @Glo_loca

A study ties an inflammatory protein complex’s activity to “traffic jams” in cell cargo transport, research in cells reveals how a kinase helps insulin regulate cell metabolism, and more in this week’s new issue of #ScienceSignaling. scim.ag/1DM
🚨Excellence in Diversity PhD Scholarships - deadline 31st January🚨 Please encourage potential candidates from under-represented groups* to apply for fully funded PhD positions at UoM - especially if they want to be a part of our BIG research team 🧠🧪 bmh.manchester.ac.uk/study/research…*
