How can we build BCIs that operate robustly in the face of nonstationarities? Our @NeurIPSConf Datasets and Benchmarks paper introduces the Few-shot Algorithms for Consistent Neural Decoding (FALCON) Benchmark! Work led by @bkarpowicz_ and @_JoelYe

I am the 3rd person in the world to receive the @Neuralink brain implant. 1st with ALS. 1st Nonverbal. I am typing this with my brain. It is my primary communication. Ask me anything! I will answer at least all verified users! Thank you @elonmusk!
BCI newcomers: Chaofei is a world-expert in BCI. What are your questions?
4 yrs ago, I jumped from AI into Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) research—with almost zero neuroscience experience. Today, I'm at NPTL, one of the world's leading BCI labs, contributing to breakthroughs like restoring speech for people with ALS and developing a robust handwriting…

Excited to announce the Foundation Models for the Brain and Body workshop at #NeurIPS2025!🧠 We invite short papers or interactive demos on AI for neural, physiological or behavioral data. Submit by Aug 22 👉 brainbodyfm-workshop.github.io
A team of #PurdueECE students has built a record-breaking machine that solves a RUBIK’S Cube faster than the blink of an eye 👁️! Congrats to Brock Berta, Aden Hurd, Junpei Ota, & Matthew Patrohay on this remarkable achievement! Come see the machine today (Fri) until 3 in MSEE!
Exciting news from @NiaTherapeutics! We’re thrilled to announce that Prof. Michael Kahana (@KahanaMichael) has joined the company full-time as CEO. A world leader in the science of human memory, Prof. Kahana built a distinguished career at the University of Pennsylvania (@Penn),…
Without NIH funds to run research labs at academic institutions, as a country we cannot train PhD students. No physician scientists. No undergraduates get experience in labs. Nothing. Industry does none of these things. Other countries will have to take the lead.
Very excited by this application of geometric deep learning to characterize and understand neural population dynamics. Congrats @AGosztolai and team!!
MARBLE, a method for finding interpretable and consistent latent neural representations is finally out in @naturemethods: nature.com/articles/s4159… Thanks to @chethan for the commentary in the associated Briefing: nature.com/articles/s4159…
Neural Data Transformer 3 is preprinted! We think it can be an off-the-shelf model for all your intracortical motor decoding needs. Decoding gains over your multisession model expected if you have <1.5 hours of data.
Clearly Ivy Leagues are used here as examples to rile up conservatives, but rates are higher at places like Seattle Children's Hospital (95%) or Dana Farber Cancer Institute (75%) - underscoring how cutting indirect funds will directly impact pediatric and cancer care.
Last year, $9B of the $35B that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) granted for research was used for administrative overhead, what is known as “indirect costs.” Today, NIH lowered the maximum indirect cost rate research institutions can charge the government to 15%, above…
Completely agree with this sentiment
The indiscriminate and ill-conceived slashing of indirects by the @NIH yesterday must be amended if want to restore America’s leadership role biomedical research. 15% simply isn’t enough for institutions to provide the basic infrastructure needed to run a successful lab. I say…

Finally decided to make a video to show how I make my pieces! #sciart
A BCI controlling virtual fingers is used to fly a high-performance virtual quadcopter. BCIs could allow people with paralysis to eventually play multiplayer video games with gamers who use video game controllers. @StanfordNsurg @umichneuro @UMBME nature.com/articles/s4159…

Excited to share our new report on lessons learned from the Brain-to-Text '24 competition! arxiv.org/abs/2412.17227 The biggest jump in accuracy came from using a fine-tuned merger LLM to combine hypotheses from an ensemble (see figure).
