P-H-L-Y The new era of sports coverage in Philadelphia is here.
Regarding how the Hart verdict affects the Flyers: Hart is no longer under contract with the team. He's a free agent, & he could be signed. But the org is high on Ersson & they just signed Dan Vladar to a not-insignificant two-year deal. I'm operating as if that's their tandem.
Former Flyers goalie Carter Hart is found not guilty in the Hockey Canada sexual assault case. It seemed almost certainly based on the judge's statements in the morning today, but now it's official.

A proper Herbert Hypothetical is to imagine if he had those playoff losses in Philly.
Hypotheticals ruined NFL debates. They said put Justin Herbert on the Eagles and they win the Super Bowl. If Herbert ever sees Mahomes across the field in the Super Bowl, his brain would literally melt on national television.

Operating under the assumption that the Flyers' offseason is now basically done, it's striking in retrospect just how predictable their summer was. On April 19, Briere basically told the media & fans everything he was going to do. And then he went out & did basically all of it.
The Flyers under Daniel Briere very clearly have a plan. They've articulated it clearly & repeatedly. This summer, they followed that plan to a T, concretely proving they can successfully execute their chosen vision. Now, the vision just needs to work: allphly.com/flyers-offseas…
It's official: Porter Martone (PHI) is a Michigan State Spartan. instagram.com/p/DMYeTzvve7q/…
My breakdown of Porter Martone's decision to head to college: - Why college over the NHL (for now)? - Should fans be worried about Gauthier redux? - Is Flyers training camp for Martone now off the table? - Could he sign his ELC at the end of the season? allphly.com/porter-martone…
Unsurprising, given Tocchet's presence on the bench as an assistant for Team Canada at the Four Nations tournament. But still a great honor for the Flyers' new head coach.
Congrats, Tocc! ⏰🇨🇦 Flyers Head Coach Rick Tocchet has been named assistant coach of @HockeyCanada for the Olympic Winter Game Milano Cortina 2026. nhl.com/flyers/news/ri…

We'd probably do an emergency pod on this, but @BILLadelPHLY is filling in on the @PHLYGarganoShow right now! So catch @PHLY_Flyers at 12 PM EST as we break down all angles of today's Martone news.
I know fans are going to worry about a redux of the Cutter Gauthier situation with Martone. But it really doesn't seem like it'll go in that direction. The Flyers are confident that everyone involved is on the same page, and that this is a totally different set of circumstances.
My read is that both sides agreed Canadian juniors this season was not going to be good for his development. The NHL would have been a great option, but he wouldn't have been a lock to make the big club out of camp. NCAA was viewed as an ideal certain step-up in competition.
Good result. Seemed like making the NHL club this year would have been forcing the issue. Now you get to see how Martone does at a higher level of competition, and you can re-evaluate next year.
Also, this definitely means Martone will not be at Flyers training camp. Don't expect any attempts at a workaround, which honestly may not even be possible. Door is potentially open for Martone to sign after his college season & join the Flyers then, though.
