I am very glad to read this and agree with it in its entirety. I thought that the comments of both Ian Paul and the Bishop of Blackburn were distasteful and insulting, and I’m grateful to Adam Spiers for so clearly laying out why. churchtimes.co.uk/articles/2025/…
Very pleased to have contributed an essay to this collection. Buy it for the sparkling array of writers alongside whom I am enormously humbled to be included. canterburypress.hymnsam.co.uk/books/97817862…
Prompt, effective action from the House of Bishops. Good to see and encouraging as we look for real change in the way LGBTQIA people are treated by the church. churchofengland.org/media/press-re…
Not entirely sure that stating that we have 'a complete disdain for patients' is a great look from the SoS for H+SC, who is apparently wanting to work with doctors. You might not agree with the strike, but this kind of language is ridiculous.

What an extraordinary feat of engineering for an extraordinary bishop bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
Thank you for being with us, inspiring sermon, and lovely to concelebrate with you xx
A joy to preach and preside at St Catherine, Hatcham, exploring the call of Christ to ground all our hospitality and our busi/busyness in Him. Thanks to Fr Stanley for the invite, and great to be able to bring greetings from @HaberdashersCo to this wonderful parish.

Happy 96th (!!!) birthday to the wonderful, slightly crackers, ever-loving, elegant, and regal Jean, my maternal grandmother!

In other words, let our souls rest in this for a while, because it truly is a balm. We know canons and teaching are still in place (and are waiting for FAOC's reflections to understand how this relates to the specific questions). But we feel just a little less hated today.
I wish you and others would listen to the experience and pain of LGBTQIA people who know, in our hearts, that 'it changes nothing' is simply not true. The pain - the sheer offence and denigration of our dignity - that Issues caused means that its removal really does matter.
Team Southwark with Paul Waddell presenting Mae Christie's Private Members Motion helped the GS @churchofengland reach a rare moment of consensus that Issues in Human Sexuality had to go - and not before time. Watch the debate here from 2:19:10: youtube.com/live/9msrW6Of9…
‘Now Issues has gone ... it opens the way for liberalisation of the church’s policy on same sex relationships and means we can stop using it as a kind of reference text’ reuters.com/world/uk/churc…
"Sometimes we think empowering the laity just means dressing them in vestments"- great point from @charliebelllive today in Synod1
Thanks be to God for the dismissal of the grotesque Issues in Human Sexuality from the discernment and vocations process. A lot of hard work by the team at Synod, and drive and vision by Mae Christie. We did it. It’s gone. Thanks be to God.

'How could this ever be put into practice in a way which would be safe for those to whom we owe the most – the most vulnerable in society… This change to the law changes who we are as a society' @charliebelllive #synod speaking on Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill
Happy Feast of S. Bonaventure. Here he is doing the dishes when news comes that he's being made a cardinal. Here's a thread I made a few years ago celebrating the Feast of S. Bonaventure, and which also explains my bio pic on here. May the Seraphic Doctor, pray for us.
